The Halo games are a blast to play through, although they benefit HUGELY from having friends to play with. Playing Co-op through these games on the hardest difficulty made some of my fondest gaming memories. That WAS using a controller, I don’t know if they tweaked the enemy reaction times to be deadlier now that you can use a keyboard n mouse.
Working on convincing a couple PC buddies to pick up one game, the collection, or Game Pass so we can giggle at punching elites and running over grunts with a warthog.
My brother and I are playing through the campaign on Legendary. Yes, it's very difficult, and trying to punch anything is pretty much a death sentence in most circumstances. Still a blast though.

Can't get behind the purchase of Halo Reach after seeing how poorly it runs above 60fps. I know it's an old console game not originally designed for it, but I fully expected this be buttery smooth on my 144Hz monitor. Gonna pass for now.

In case anyone's wondering what he's referring to check the end of the recent Digital Foundry PC analysis video.

So good SP FPS campaign? How are the graphics?

The graphics look decent enough. If the base game is 8 years old now, then on a PC at 1440p with the "enhanced" graphics mode enabled, it looks 4 or 5 years old. The art design is great though.

At three (long) missions in, I'm quite enjoying the SP campaign. The basic mechanics are solid, and the level design centers around combat sandboxes which give you a lot of freedom to how you want to tackle each group of enemies. It's still a linear game, but each set piece within a mission is open ended, giving you a choice of weapons, vehicles, pathways, vantage points, etc. to work with. I would imagine that this would be very replayable for a SP shooter.

My only two complaints are that the story is disjointed, with the transition between missions feeling abrupt, and the awful audio quality. Apparently the latter has been acknowledged by the devs though and will be patched.

Is that official?

No way. It barely runs at 60fps on high end machines.

Was never designed to run at 60fps on ANY machine.

It runs fine, higher settings are future proofed for future hardware, just lower the preset down one notch.

I've never played Halo is it worth getting on PC?

IMO, it's the best Halo campaign. The remaster for PC is very well done, controls feel native and the graphical update breathes new life into the visuals. I haven't played around much with the multiplayer aspect outside of Firefight, which is still a blast.

I would definitely recommend it. Timeline wise, it's a prequel to first halo and is the beginning of the entire series storyline. It details the events leading immediately up to the start of the original game, and it does a great job at conveying the desperation.

Agreed, although there are some audio quality and mixing problems with this initial release. Totally worth the ten bucks though.
