page on the Roberts Space Industries Website shows that crowdfunding for
Star Citizen (and Squadron 42) has surpassed another milestone (thanks
PCGamesN). Cloud
Imperium Games has now collected over a quarter-billion dollars to develop their
space exploration game. As of this writing, the exact total is $250,537,095.00,
which is higher than the gross domestic product of several countries, including
the Marshall Islands. Crowdfunding for the project
began in 2012 with as an
effort to raise two million dollars to create a game originally planned for
2014, but as Nicolas Cage's character said in The Rock, "Well gosh. Kind
of a lot's happened since then."

I can not possibly thank Chris and the whole crew at CIG enough for the awesome, awesome game they have produced from those $250 million. What they have released so far, albeit slightly incomplete, dwarfs every single game in existence. The complete game will be a monument that will not be touched by a single other production for centuries, maybe even millennia.

This is the time to add from now on financial stretch goals ONLY. Next stretch goal: $300,000,000. If reached within 12 months, everyone giving more than $1,000 will get a golden batch next to his name in game, everyone giving more than $10,000 will get a little diamond next to his name in game. Working on the golden batch and the diamond unfortunately will make the "beta" be released another two years later (at least). But you want that, right? So go and give and belieeeeeeeve, people, belieeeeeeve!

They raised $46 million from investors late last year just before xmas and as far as I am aware they did not add it to the crowdfunding counter. The math wouldn't add up anyway. They crossed $200 million in November last year but have consistently raised between $1.7 million (summer slump 2019) and over $9 million(last month) per month ever since. They would be way past $250 million if the $46 million would have been added to the counter last December or in January.

To put things into perspective, a little game known as Warframe also started developing at around the same time star citizen did, going from a small beta concept to now an open world mmo in some regards..... And it was quite playable and enjoyable the whole way thru.
During that same time frame Star Shitizen has done what? make a buggy ass alpha?
CIG clearly plan on using the 250 million dollars on out doing Duke Nukem Forever. They might even hire Randy Pitchford to get things finished if we are lucky
