Fallen Order is EA's Best-Ever PC Star Wars Launch

EA announces that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is their fastest-selling digital launch ever for a Star Wars Game, and that it is their top-selling Star Wars game on PC during its initial two-week launch window. Here's what they have to say about this:
Today Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: EA), Respawn Entertainment and Lucasfilm announced that the critically acclaimed Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order™ is the fastest-selling digital launch for a Star Wars game in its first two weeks. The game is also now EA’s top-selling Star Wars title on PC in its initial launch window.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is a critical success as well as being the highest rated Star Wars game of this console generation. Business Insider exclaims that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is “the best Star Wars game ever made,” while GameSpot calls it “one of the most compelling game additions to the Star Wars franchise in years.” GQ notes that the game “lives up to the hype,” while IGN says it is, “an all-around amazing game” in their 9.0 out of 10 review.

“On behalf of Respawn and EA, we thank everyone for their support of the studio and the team throughout the development and launch of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Telling a story in the Star Wars galaxy is a dream come true and the reception from the fans has been incredible,” said Vince Zampella, Head of Respawn. “With the launch of the game, the debut of The Mandalorian and the upcoming release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, it’s a great time to be a Star Wars fan!”

"Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order demonstrates the amazing potential for original storytelling in Star Wars games,” said Sean Shoptaw, SVP, Games and Interactive Experiences, Disney Parks, Experiences and Products. "The close collaboration between Respawn and Lucasfilm is a perfect example of how we can deliver an experience for fans that is authentic to the stories and worlds they love, while also being an incredibly fun and innovative game. With the fantastic reception and launch so far, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has proven to be the must-play game this Holiday.”

Wow we've really reached peak stupidity.

I don't find the black female character attractive, clearly it's an SJW plot!! They should have made it a sexy white woman in a metal bikini! I know exactly what Disney were thinking, even though I have no connections at Disney and can't provide any evidence. Also I ate all the CRAYONS!!!

And that's not even getting into the comparing a black person's eyes to a frog.

Yup. Borderline racism.

The deflection into calling Disney racist when they employ literally THOUSANDS of people world-wide of various ethnic backgrounds for their various ventures is staggeringly imbecilic.

I'm also curious as to what makes you think Cere is SJW material... because other than being female, there's nothing in her character dialog that I saw that could be used to put her in the incel's SJW column. her character arc is pretty much the polar opposite of SJW, since you literally end up saving her from herself.

Male white lead gotta have a black female co-lead = "SJW light" and what really turns it into proper SJW is that she's unattractive as fuck. They made her look like a frog (those eyes!) so no one gets the idea that she might be a sexy sidekick or just deco or shit.

And this is why I can't take SJW arguments seriously at all... got it, so a black female character instantly makes it SJW... FFS. It's always "wah, wah, feminism, SJW, stop forcing it, it should be organic having [insert race / gender here]!"... then when a game just uses an actress of color (who the in-game model is based on btw), without trying to "push an agenda", making her as flawed, if not more so than the main character, it's still "Wah! SJW!" Thank you for clarifying. I will ignore any arguments you make with "SJW" in your commentary from now on.

Parker is being borderline racist at this point. He really needs to stop jumping the shark.

you do realize the cognitive dissonance of saying you don't have a problem with her being black...

...and complaining about Disney making her black. I mean what, are you privy to their internal HR docs where they announce that the only reason they picked Debra Wilson is because of her ethnicity? Otherwise you're just making stuff up. Is there anything that would satisfy you that they picked Debra Wilson because she's Debra Wilson and not because she's black?

sometimes a cigar is just a cigar dude. Stop seeing conspiracies everywhere man.

The only people "ramming their agenda down our throats" are the people complaining about SJWs

So, before the SJW thing gets blown out of proportion (why are y'all so easily triggered? ), it is a VERY minor point of contention to me. I do not like Cere as a character but that has nothing to do with her being black or female. At all.

The only thing that *slightly* annoys me is that it is clear as day to me how Disney came up with the character. It seems obvious to me that they chose the actress for Cere based on gender and race for purely inclusion purposes. I think that is silly.
So, in essence, what annoys me (*slightly*) is the "SJW" thought process that apparently went into the casting.

They did not follow an artistic vision. They did not pick the "best" actress for the job. They picked someone to fit their inclusion agenda.
This feels like a 1980s flashback when almost every US television series/movies did this as well for in-your-face liberalism.
And if you look at Episodes VII and VIII you know I'm right and why Disney just *had to* pair Cal with a black gal.

I really enjoyed the game, to be honest. Yes, I'd prefer to have some fast travel, manual saving anywhere and not recycling levels due to gaining new skills BUT all in all I really enjoyed it. It's Star Wars. It's therefore awesome.

Regarding the SJW comments, why bother thinking about it? If a game/series/film puts in what feels like a token character or set of characters to represent a gender or race, so what? Just enjoy it for what it is. There's no need to over-analyse everything. Things like Political Correctness are important, otherwise you get things like Trump.

It really is one of the weakest SJW cases anyone has ever made, and that's coming from the guy who is a big adversary to the "white privilege" type of extreme leftist narrative that has infected even this bunch on Bluesnews. Oh, and it comes from the guy who sees through Parker's anger and/or frustration and sees the actual sense he is making 9 out of 10 times.

Not this time, though. This is an ugly AF female sidekick, which is refreshing AF. I am still waiting for Bioware to make a casual, slightly chubby woman to romance who doesn't check every pornstar box. There's nothing more to Cere. She's ugly and not never talks about her skin color as far as I have experienced. That would be too retarded anyway, since at least in the Star Wars universe they stopped talking about skin color all the goddamn time.

Wow, so any time a male white lead is paired with a black female lead, it's just instant SJW regardless of anything else?

Huh.

Tell me again who the snowflakes are? Tell me again who are the ones obsessed with identity politics?

Talk about projection.

Why would it be more adult content when Star Wars is pretty well aimed at kids?

Adults, too, but more kids. Their bread and butter is children. It always has been. It always will be.

By "more adult" I did not mean pr0n and gangbangs with three titted aliens or extreme brutality but maybe something along the lines of TESB or along the lines of the KotOR games (especially no. 2).

The movies weren't all Jar-Jar and Ewoks either. There were mature themes in between the comic relief sections. JFO, however, is at least 80% Ewoks/Jar-Jar with the pilot muppet, the frog companion and the always trying to be cute Bee Dee One.

The game is theoretically taking place at a very dark time as the Republic is falling apart and the Empire rises to power. There are at best hints of this oppression and desperation but otherwise you don't really "feel" it. The game is way too cartoony and "Disney".

I think my only issue with any backtracking in this game was Dathomir, and that's because I feel like they should have had a shortcut unlock on the Nightbrother City entrance. But that was only when I was finishing up my collectibles, so it wasn't a big deal. The story progression pretty much saves you from most backtracking if you've unlocked the shortcuts as you were going.

Really depends on one's definition of a "shortcut". To me there is way too much backtracking. It's not only having to revisit planets and locations but you also have to fight/find your way back to your fucking ship almost every single mission instead of the game doing what other games do by ending the mission with a cutscene and putting you back in your ship. There isn't even a story reason. It's just for the purpose of time stretching and filler that you have to trudge back to your ship.

It really adds up imo. Backtracking for objectives, backtracking at the end of missions and backtracking for new missions when you return to the same old places. In some cases it is also immersion breaking and illogical that enemies have respawned. It sucks ass. Hard.

Boring game. A waste of my 15 bucks for Premier. Terrible backtracking, horrendous level design, and combat that doesn't feel like you're a light-saber wielding mofo. How often do I have to singe your guts before you're dead? My saber must be running on some shabby batteries?!

They could've fixed this by increasing mob count, but instead the suits were like "What's this about Souls-like games? Forget the question, whatever it is just make it Souls-like!" And now they've enthralled the 2 most obsessive groups: the Souls fans and the SW fans.

Fucking genious.
