Heh, reminds me of a story on This American Life from a few weeks ago. The mother of the family was addicted to The Sims. So much so that she would make the kids do all the housework so she could play. She slept in the computer room so she could get up early in the morning and play right away. The daughter got so frustrated with her mother that she snuck into the computer room in the middle of the night while her mother slept on the floor. She logged in, walked the daughter character out of the house, barricaded the rest of the Sim family inside, and burned the place to the ground, killing everyone inside. Funny story, and cautionary tale.

That's cool, I agree, but maybe he does not care that much about money (Once you don't have to worry about a roof over your head and food to eat)

He may have just been doing it because in enjoyed making something that he had control over. (plus he was still well off)

Like It would be nice to see he had way way more than he needed and was rewarded financial for his efforts but that may not have been what he cares about.

Notch got over a Billion for Minecraft but I don't think that was what he was thinking about has he typed out his first lines of code.

Nah, PC gamers have hated the Sims ever since the first one came out. IT'S NOT TOUGH AND MANLY GRRRR.

But I do agree that the nickle-and-diming crap is terrible. On the flipside, the fans seem to have no issue forking over the money, and at least EA is sticking with Sims 4 now, rather than going to Sims 5 and making everyone buy everything all over again. (Like they did when they went from 3 to 4.)

I love building things. Did a ton of it in Minecraft, Terraria, Factorio and some other games. But I've never even been tempted to try Sims.

I don't play it anymore because I'm already short of time to play all the things I want to (re)play, but I always had a lot of fun with it. My wife still plays it on the xbone from time to time.

My wife loves the series, and is always playing on her laptop.. well more like creating content for others to play really. She's always making something, beautiful houses, famous families, etc and uploads them to the games website where other's download and use em.

There's a surprisingly large community that is constantly churning out content & mods. Sims 3 is like 10 years old now and it still gets tuns of fan-made content.
