I know a lot of people who like to point out that Intel has never been able to keep up with AMD and is getting crushed.

They always point out some new AMD chip that is killing it's Intel counterpart that is already two or three years old. Apparently when you're an AMD fanboi getting lapped at the track is basically the same as catching up.

AMD Drivers still suck, that's a thing going back all the way to the ATI days in the dawn of the 2000's.

I still have to run Google Chrome and Firefox with hardware acceleration disabled. Because the drivers fucking suck.

Whaaaaat? 5700XT owner here and the drivers are rock solid. I am running hardware acceleration under Firefox with zero problems. Smooth scrolling, audio and video playback are fine with no glitches, and generally zero problems on both Win10 and Linux.
Yeah, but you have to have a top of the line overclocked liquid cooled 5700XT to do it along with a mongo cpu and 97 gb of uber fast ddr7.

True, I did pair my system with good components for a five year build. Even so, were the drivers truly "shit" I would have loads of issues that even raw horsepower wouldn't be able to overcome. I do not have those issues.

Also, I have loads of experience with bad Nvidia drivers on their midrange cards (970, 1060, and 1660 models). I think it would be better to say that both manufacturers have issues and that those issues are foreseeable given the vast array of possible combinations of hardware and software.

But if you don't mind a few quirks then you certainly get a lot of power for your money.

I also have to run Chrome and Firefox with hardware acceleration disabled, on my GTX1080. For a while this was because nvidia's drivers would straight up crash, but with newer driver versions it's because they make dwm.exe crash.

AMD doesn't do better than Intel or NVIDIA anywhere.

They do better than they do in the US, but they do not beat that combo. According to Steam, less than 20% of CPUs are AMD. Only 15% of GPUs are AMD. Unless Steam is 85% US based, and unless NVIDIA and Intel sell nothing outside the US, your statement is wrong.

It depends on the country usually. From what I've heard over the last few years in Europe, AMD cpu's run cheaper than Intel. GPU's is usually the opposite with Nvidia running cheaper. Lately Nvidia and Intel's markups have not helped and thus AMD sells more and more.

What are these markups? I haven't heard about this. Is it toll or tax, or just retailer stuff? Or currency stuff?

Install Linux on it. Seriously. Just gifted my mom an old Shuttle box I had with an Intel 4770K in it with Fedora 30 installed to an SSD. Runs like gazelle with its ass on fire. She loves it and it will last her for years.

That's overly optimistic, according to official info, Intel is stuck on 14nm+++++++++ until at least 2022 on desktop processors and that's only if Intel executes perfectly.

AMD has 2 years to bank on Intel's missteps and increase their lead and there's no guarantee Intel won't run into any more problems until then with their recent track record.

As for GPUs, that's pure speculation and the info we got directly from Intel so far contradicts that speculation.
