It's hilarious that they just stumbled upon the source code previously believed lost.

Source control back then was hodgepodge CVS shit. There are many Japanese games that lost their entire source tree due to shitty versioning and backup practices, Final Fantasy 8 for example.

That's what they get for trusting their source control to a pharmacy.

Backup is for pussies!
Digital Rot is a thing. Whether it's source code stored on 5 1/4" floppies, wedding pics on an iomega zip disk or a movie of your child's first steps on dvd. 20 years from now those mediums may be damn near impossible to read due lack of hardware and/or medium failure.

They need to fix Saints Row 3 on Steam while they're at it. It doesn't work for me, and quite a few others. They've borked something with the Steam DRM. It loads to the menu, but then just crashes to the desktop if you select anything. There are no errors or anything in any log file.

Thanks to GOG Connect, I have it on GOG too. The GOG version is identical to the Steam version except for the DRM. It even has the achievement code still in it. I started the game on one PC, and built a new PC mid-game. At first I blamed Win10, but found other people having the same problem on Win 7 and 8. I was able to finish the game by installing the GOG version and copying it over the Steam version. I was surprised when Steam achievements still worked.

I'll probably pick this up when they finish it. I remember slogging through the port back in the day to the finish, but yeah, that was a terrible port.
