Anyway, that's a surprisingly alright list. Feel free to continue bitching about everything I still wonder why you'd complain about RDR2. From what I've SEEENNNN that game looks fucking amazing and anything but boring. Again, can't wait for the 5th.
The RDR2 tumbleweed comment was just a shot from the hip drive-by troll comment for shits'n'giggles . But it's also based on an element of truth in so far as what seems to be a rather common opinion among gamers, i.e. that RDR2 is overhyped and kind of boring with a horrible control scheme to boot (on consoles!) which is a VERY, VERY bad and alarming omen for the PC UI and controls.
I generally consider R* way overrated. After a long wait I finally got GTA V earlier this year and played through the story mode. It was definitely a quite funny comedy, especially Trevor and Michael, but to me it was far from the Second Coming that some people are making it out to be.
Yeah, the world as a gamey version of LA is pretty cool but nothing except the story mode really interested me in the game. All the side activities and mini games left me cold. I can definitely see the appeal for console gaming, i.e. some dudes getting together for a few beers and trying to one up each other on the stunt jumps but I'm a single player guy and pretty goal-driven. Just fucking around a world like GTA V with no purpose isn't my cup of tea at all.
The game also had a horrible UI, crappy RSC implementation and shitty controls. I hated the helicopter and airplane controls and I don't think I could have ever finished the game w/o the PS4 controller that I never use except for situations when it is absolutely required. That situation came up when Michael joined the yoga class of his wife. All the mini games were sort of awkward with mouse and keyboard but the yoga game was (imo) impossible. I was only able to pass it with the controller.
I quite like the Western theme (the Call of Juarez games were great) so I'm sure I will check out RDR2 (GOTY?) one fine day but it's pretty low priority. So much other stuff to play first. The backlog is unreal.

I knew it was short, has no/limited replayability, and given the fact that I already have a backlog that I can't see the end of anymore, it's never dropped to a price low enough that I felt it was worth buying.
Hellblade is a a work of art in some ways, and a bit of a camera fight in others. I enjoyed it, but it's extremely short and has almost no replayability.

Hellblade was my fave of two years ago. Glad -someone- else played it. I can't convince anyone I know to try it. One work friend bought one of my old SSD's off me and I left my GOG copy of it on there. Six months later, still 'hasn't gotten around to it'.
If something like the GTAV redux mod gets made for RDR2, the total install size is going to be pretty hilariously off the charts.

Cram wrote on Oct 9, 2019, 15:10:There are a bunch of GTA 4 and 5 mods out there to make the game look "photorealistic". That said I'm not too optimistic for mod "support" in RDR2, don't think R* will make things any easier this time around.Creston wrote on Oct 9, 2019, 15:05:
Anyway, the system requirements seem very decent for what I would have imagined would be an absolute system killer of a game.
Do Rockstar allow for graphic mods? I never played GTAV for PC, but I think people have gone pretty nuts prettying that game up? I imagine there are people chewing at the bit to release stuff like that for RDR2 and turn it into a system killer. I hope so anyway.
JSP wrote on Oct 9, 2019, 14:08:IIRC RDR was a massive hacky mess and everyone that worked on it wanted to die; I guess at some point someone did a cost estimate for what a "good enough" port would take to do considering all that and it didn't seem worth it vs focusing resources on the next GTA.
While this is a very reasonable and optimized requirement for such a visually spectacular game, I still wonder why RDR was never released on PC.

Sure, just off the top of my head and I'm not gonna put them in order (too hard choosing which ones go where):
1) Witcher series (especially 2 and 3)
2) Batman Arkham series
3) AssCreed Black Flag
4) Pillars of Eternity GOTY + Deadfire Obsidian Edition
5) Elite Dangerous
6) Divinity series
7) Dragon Age Origins GOTY (juuuuuhhhhhhssst within the decade ) + Inquisition GOTY was alright, too, 'cept the retarded Trespasser DLC
8) Mass Effect 2 + 3
9) Skyrim
10) Alpha Protocol
11) Wolfenstein New Order + Old Blood
12) Hellblade
13) DCS
14) Ghost Recon Wildlands
15) Far Cry 5 + New Dawn expansion

I wish I "got" the love for Witcher 3. The story was great but I found the actual quests so boring. Just go to the marker on the map over and over. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood for it.
Isn't "go to the marker on the map over and over" pretty much every RPG ever?
