I've never used any gig economy service. I might start if these changes come to my state.

Uber is a life changer in cities where taxis aren't common and there's no great mass transportation. It makes going out to bars so much more simple and easy - no worrying about parking, no worrying about how much you're drinking, etc. Absolute life changer. Now that I'm in NYC I really only use them to get to and from airports, but in smaller cities, they drastically opened up my night life.

My city is compact and walkable. I have a car, but usually walk when I drink. I understand the convenience of it, esp in smaller cities, but hate the exploitation of all of these services, be they ride hailing, cleaning, etc.

Cell phone iterations keep getting smaller and yet the cost to upgrade keeps getting larger.

I picked up a pixel 2 xl shortly after launch for almost 50% off and it basically is all the phone I need and then some. I plan to replace the battery at some point and keep using it for another 2-3 years after that.

I kind of like the rumor that the pixel4 is going to have a night sky setting but eh... not worth 1000 bucks.
