Uhm. I don't nor have I ever had a funding paywall for reviews. That is literally exactly the opposite of what I do. Nor did I have a review for this.
Good to know that your reviews are not locked, i am sure the community appreciates that. It was an assumption on my part. Thank you for clarification.
Any reason for not reviewing it other than lack of time, money, life etc.
I just now noticed the Borderlands 3 What Did You Think? video.

Don't worry. None of us in this humble but critical thinking Blue community take RedEye's comments at face value. Your rep has not been damaged by his fake news.

How does co-op work? Will Epic versions work with Steam versions? Are you on the platform network or game service network?

This is a huge wait and see game! Even from someone who is a huge BL fan.

I tried getting into Borderlands 2 after a sale was giving it for like 12 bucks on Steam.

I couldn't get into it. The music was pretty cool. The guns felt meh as did the impact. I also didn't like that I could only hold like 2 guns at a time (probably because it was still early), and like zillion different guns were dropping. Granted, a lot of those guns felt dull to me.

I dunno, also the cel shaded look is definitely something your either into or not. I never really was but thought I'd give it a chance considering the hype.

The dialogue was pretty funny and I did enjoy it. At least in the starting phase of the game. I didn't get too far though to see if it turns into a really amazing experience though.

I felt like I had an idea of what it was all about and again, the gun feel failed to get me hooked which is what an FPS is all about...

I've had a similar problem. I just can't get into Borderlands no matter how hard I try.

Exact same experience here. 2 hours into it, the guns are feeling weak, the game feels on rails, I enjoy the humor/dialogue, the cel shading is merely OK, the boss fights are especially bullet spongey and reward playing cheap like hiding in a little hut taking pot shots.

I don't feel compelled to continue and I also don't like quests which involve completing yet more quests for this other guy who in turn passes you to a friend who won't help you until you do quests for him... I really liked Shadow Warrior 2 but I played that first so maybe Borderlands 2 come across as "been there done that" to me.

I'm not sure what reviews you're reading, but most are pretty solidly 8s and 9s, with PCGamer being the outlier.
Normally if someone brought up a pcgamer review they would be laughed out of the room but since it coincides with everyones whipping boy/store it's now the gold standard. Wink

I almost forgot to mention that all good reviews are paid reviews whereas pcgamer doesn't take payola. :double-triple-wink:

yeah but for the major mainstream reviewers the scoring system usually works like this

7s are dog shit
8s are bad
9s are decent

Of course it is. Why mess with the best looter-shooter out there? If it had changed radically, people would complain about that.

(normalizing monster difficulty no matter the level of the player)

I vaguely remember mention there would be an option to disable that and play "classic" style.

According to the reviews there is. Both ways have pretty big downsides, to be honest.

It was cool that they released an updated version of Borderlands 2. I never got too far in that game so I can keep playing B2 and spend my money on Greedfall if that's any good. I guess if you played tons of Borderlands 2 over and over again it might be worth buying B3...

I'm wondering what innovations people were hoping for that would improve it over BL2. Other than setting, do series like BF and GTA really innovate version to version?

I have a really in-depth gun part system in my head that I want to see implemented in a game.

I know many here thoroughly hate the gun system in BL2. I did not. But I think there could be huge innovation here.

I didn't really hate the gun system. I just found it somewhat aggravating to get better stuff. There is nothing wrong with the gun system in Borderlands...but in a game that relies so heaving on gun play, you can have a really great or crappy experience depending on your drops.

Which is why the skill system is so frustrating when it only ties into one active skill. If you could basically ignore your guns for some of the time and depend on the skill system to fill in the blanks it would be a much better game.

The Pitchford Factor™ means anything less than "this game literally cures cancer and may actually be the digital equivalent of the Philospher's Stone" puts this on the shelf until it's about $10 on sale.

Destiny 2 is filling my looter-shooter quotient, I don't need Epic-game-store-exclusive stuff, especially with Randy attached.

Sorry to the rest of the folks at Gearbox, but yeah.
