Controversial Ion Fury Content Going Unaltered

The fury over content in Ion Fury originally spawned a commitment to alter the content of the recently released Build-engine first person shooter. At one point developer Voidpoint also apologized for comments by staff in the company's Discord. Now a Joint statement from Voidpoint and 3D Realms on Steam indicates a change of heart, saying the content that some found offensive will remain in the game:
We’ve caused a recent controversy suggesting Ion Fury game content was to be censored.

We will absolutely NOT be censoring Ion Fury or any of our other games, now or in the future, including but not limited to by removing gags such as gaming’s most controversial facial wash.

We do not support censorship of creative works of any kind and regret our initial decision to alter a sprite in the game instead of trusting our instincts. 3D Realms and Voidpoint stand together on this matter.

Last but not least, please respect our need to keep our community forums clean from hateful messages, spam, or off-topic threads. We recognize our mistake and have received your message loud and clear!

If only these people would fight for EVERY artist and his/her freedom of expression. But no, they complain with foam dripping from their mouths, when for example a comic writer intends to swap the gender of a popular character ...

A bunch of hypocritical assholes, full of double standards and self-delusion.

Or MAYBE people that play games aren't a single collective and aren't obligated to fight for everything and anyone ALL the time? All your spouting is just "Whataboutism" BS.

I think it was a few things. There was the 'Ogay' sprite, as a joke against Olay. There was a 'dev' sprite of text with a bad joke that was never cleared out before full launch.
I think the rest was vultures combing through Discord logs and finding the devs don't much care for SJWs or somethin.

It caused enough of a hubbub that they were going to remove stuff, and donate to some LGBT cause, and then the other side threw a ruckus at censorship.

In the end, they're sticking to their guns, apparently, about 'Buy it or not. It's art.'

"Keep politics out of our games! No transsexual characters shoe-horned in!"
But this transsexual character is just a joke, isn't that a shoe-horn? Wouldn't it be political?
"Keep politics we don't like out of our games!"

What content was in danger of being censored?

I've heard there was a joke about a transexual, but I do not know. The only places this seems to have been discussed is their subreddit, which seemed to be 100x the amount of posters as there will be buyers for a Build game, and Gamergate related subs.
