Yep. A standard "leave it in your locker" policy should be the norm. I'm even in favor of saying they can't have it during the lunch hour. Oh, and stay off my lawn!

Leave it in the locker makes sense. They don't need it during class.
I guess we'll have to extend the time between classes, so everyone can get caught up on facebook/texting/snapchat/whatever.

I'm honestly surprised this isn't a federal law. Education of future generations is a major national security issue.

Total agreement with this. They need to focus on their studies. No different than when my generation was in school and not being allowed to randomly doodle during a class.

There are jobs that require you to not use your phone except during breaks. Kids need to develop a habit of being able to put away the phone in a future job situation if required.

Karen: "BUT LITTLE BRAYDEN/KAYDEN/JAYDEN WON'T BE ABLE TO CALL ME IN AN EMERGENCY! WON'T SOMEONE THINK OF THE CHIIIIILDRRRENN?!"

Also Karen: "I want to speak to the superintendent."

Everyone else: "Shut the fuck up, Karen."

I'm sure some entitled helicopter mom(s) will freak-out because she doesn't have access to her kid every second of the day.

A restriction to math classes only would be sensible since you can have an app for a graphical calc, but other than that, good call.

Do students need to have access to their own personal entertainment center and all-in-one device inside the classroom. Short answer, no.
More school districts need to take note.

Even with as fascist and "zero tolerance" as our K-12 education has become in this country, this restriction makes a fair bit of sense.
