Out of the Blue

We had a terrific time at the beach yesterday, and I scored a lot of points with the littles by doing a lot of swimming with them. I was quite the swimmer back in my summer camp days, but that was in the last millennium, so I was pleasantly surprised that this followed the riding a bike cliché, as I'm still quite at home in the water. My stamina is not what it was back in the day, but it seems unrealistic to expect it would be, considering when I was training to be a lifeguard we would swim 64 laps as a warm up to a training session. But I can work on that, which is great, as I've been looking for an enjoyable way to make up for the exercise I've been missing out on since I stopped walking Jedi a few miles a day. The soreness I'm experiencing today is a reminder that swimming is a far more complete workout than walking, so that's a win. This won't help me in the cold weather, as I can't abide pools, but I can swim under that bridge when I come to it.

So, I was reading somewhere about the Fortnite World Cup and was a bit surprised by the prize amounts. I was wondering, has anyone read/heard where that cash is coming from? The publisher? Advertisers?
Valve

Specifically, "Valve's Video Game Charity Outreach Program," funded by their 30% cut.
It is a lot of charity $30 million for this event alone.

Well, I was being facetious.
I'm sure it all comes from that massive Fortnite cash they get. $30M is like a day's revenue for them.

When they did the wind tunnel tests and found the problem, it is amazingly/disappointing/crazy/whatever there was no engineering review which was able to veto the design and say "This is a bad design, we shouldn't do this."
They're basically a monopoly, so they can do what they want.
Actually, that makes it worse. They probably could have gotten away with the time a proper redesign would have taken but they were too greedy and didn't have a process to let the engineers make the decisions...

Heritage Auctions website is a great resource for art scans, especially movie posters, etc. I spent days a while back downloading Star Wars related art/posters from there.

What's wrong with swimming pools? Just because everyone wades into them with their unwashed assess and uses them as a communal urinal is no reason turn your nose up. They're kept clean with buckets of chlorine; the stinging in your eyes and bleaching of your hair lets you know it's working.
