Outpost Zero Free Week

Outpost Zero is holding a free week on Steam, offering the chance to try this Windows base-building survival game for zero dollars. This update also notes the game is currently 30% off, and that the free week will culminate in the game's graduation from Early Access: "Starting now and until next Thursday, Outpost Zero is free to try and is 30% off! The Free Week is to help us test out a few updates as the game gears up to go into 1.0 at the end of the Free Week!" Here's a trailer showing off gameplay, and here are some details:

Outpost Zero blends the genres of Multiplayer Base Building Survival and Simulation games in a Sci-Fi universe.

You and your robotic crewmates were sent to this planet for one purpose - to prepare a working habitat for the future waves of human colonists eager to escape the dying earth. Gaiya's untold natural resources are a juicy target for interstellar big business. Healthy competition among competing corporations drive the dangerous expeditions. Will you succeed in establishing a profitable foothold on this mysterious world, or will the perils of Gaiya and the ruthless corporations out to exploit her natural resources be too much for you to handle?

Command. Colonize. Survive.

I hate it when they put 'Pre Alpha'...do you even know what a freakin' Pre-Alpha is? It's not a beta, which is what you're showing in the video. Pre-fucking-Alpha would be barely functional with almost no features or artwork, mostly just placeholders and duct tape to show what will be. This is nearly a fleshed out Beta. Empyrion does the same thing, we're supposedly up to Alpha 10 but the damn game is nearly complete.

It's arguable that most of the pre-release demos aren't intended to fine-tune anything at all. In many cases, they're a marketing ploy, little else.

Blame the big publishers who let you play a multiplayer demo ahead of release so they can fine tune their balance and netcode... They call those things "beta tests" even though they happen two weeks before the game is out. It's not surprising that others have felt the need to use a different term, so that their actual beta is not compared to those.

Maybe instead of food and water, you need oil and electricity?

Looks like they licensed the NMS engine.

Also, with Robots, at least there won't be hunger/thirst mechanics. I hate that.

The land in Minecraft is flat, Minecraft simulates the Earth, ergo the Earth is flat.
