It looks like you're right. A bit before the Pi 3 came out, I was looking to build a dedicated Plex client to stream to my entertainment system (big tv, surround sound, etc). The problem was that the Pi 2 (and turns out the 3 also) wasn't powerful enough to support h265 and/or 4k for future-proofing. I ended up going with an ODROID-C2, which is very similar (even has the same form-factor) but was much more powerful at the time, has more features, and has an official build of OpenPHT, which made the whole process easy.

For the future, it looks like I'll be going back to RPis for similar projects as they can now handle quite a bit more.

(Currently using a Pi 2 as a pi-hole.)
