Retro Dust II Map Celebrates 20th Anniversary of Counter-Strike

It was 20 years ago today that Sgt. Pepper taught the band to play. It was also 20 years ago today that Beta 1 of the Counter-Strike modification for Half-Life was released (called "CounterStrike" at the time). To celebrate the 20th anniversary, Valve announces the a retro version of the venerable Dust II map is now available in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, offering the chance to bask in some dusty nostalgia. Here's a 2003 article on The Making Of: Dust from its originator Dave Johnson (thanks Levelord) and here's word on the release:
Twenty years ago, a humble Half-Life mod changed the gaming world. Constantly evolving and shifting over the years, Counter-Strike has never lost its fundamentals: it’s easy to learn, takes a lifetime to master, and is supported by a massive global community.

You can celebrate the history of CS with a retro version of Dust II, currently available in the Casual Dust II map group. There’s also a new sticker capsule featuring the unsung heroes of CS – chickens!

I started "late", Beta 6. A year or three later CS almost ruined my marriage, and after that I have only visited the game casually. I know a guy who still plays 1.6 incessantly, though.

Nowadays my own kids beat me easily. You simply can't compete with those teenage reflexes.
