Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Gameplay Footage

The promised presentation of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is complete, which involved a lot of screaming, along with some information. EA also showed off 15 minutes of uncut gameplay footage from this third-person, single-player action/adventure that's set after the execution of Order 66 that wiped out most of the Jedi in Star Wars Episode 3 (the video also includes a humorous "at least we have the high ground" reference). This shows your character doing Star Wars stuff as well as some more commonplace adventuring like Tarzan swinging on vines and using your lightsaber as a flashlight. Never fear, it also features combat where you use it as a weapon, along with various Force powers, aided by a droid/backpack. Respawn's Vince Zampella and Stig Asmussen also answered questions about gameplay, perhaps most significantly saying this game will not tempt you to the dark side, and protagonist Cal Kestis will remain a good guy throughout.

Either you saw a very different version of the classic trilogy that I did, or you were tripping hard on LSD.
Obiwan Kenobi and Yoda were both alive and met with Luke so the Jedi were not extinct. Return of the Jedi alludes to the return of Anakin Skywalker when he returned from the dark side.
I have always thought that "Return of the Jedi" referred to the group of Jedi, not Luke or Vader. I'm with KX on this. Ben and Yoda we're retired and in hiding after the Clone Wars.

Kenobi and Yoda were both in self-exile for decades. Exile is the same as extinction. With both out of action, there were no Jedi proper. Luke was not in exile and eager to learn the force and become a Jedi. That's why Kenobi was keen to train Luke, then send him to Yoda to complete his training. It was also why Yoda was willing to send Luke to face his father to become a Jedi; obviously since the full Jedi trials no longer existed. Yoda figured facing his father in mortal combat would address at least most of the nine steps of the trial: isolation, fear, anger, betrayal, focus, instinct, forgiveness, and protection. The only one not possible would be teamwork. Perhaps that's why Kenobi was so intent on telling Luke to wait. With further training, Luke could have learned how to commune and channel Kenobi through the force, as he learned from Yoda, and Yoda from Qui-Gon Jinn.

In retrospect, Yoda telling Luke to face his father in combat to become a Jedi was very Sith-like. Only the Sith make those kinds of moves. Though Luke stopped himself from killing his father; something the Emperor was all too happy to encourage Luke to do. It was only at that moment when he saw his fathers severed hand and his mechanical hand that he realized the dark path his father chose.

But.. midichlorians. Won't you think of the invasive alien species's children..?! SOMEBODY has to love Star Wars, or they'll die! And then how will Jedi be all awesome 'n shit, without their invasive li'l pals connecting them to what used to be an energy field created by all living things, surrounding and penetrating us, putting binds on everything in the galaxy..?!

Plus it's making for one helluva SJW platform these days, doncha know. Don't think many of us saw that one coming back in '77.

No, dude. Luke *and* Leia. Return of the Jedi twins. It was meant to be plural form.

Well, and technically even Ani... though I guess he was only a Jedi-returned-from-the-Sith for about 15 minutes from when he dumped Palps down the shaft to when he took his last breath near the hangar bay and became a blue glowie Jedi afterwards.

EA getting its hands on the Star Wars license was one of the greatest fucking mistakes in gaming.

I would have agreed 20 years ago but nowadays I'd say it's a perfect match. Star Wars as a franchise has been on a steady decline with the mediocre prequel trilogy and it has now completely gone to full garbage with Episode VII.

Fuck Star Wars. It's dead. EA might as well rape the corpse. Who cares? EA and Star Wars = a perfect shit match these days. They deserve each other.

Besides, I'm not even sure it's really all EA's doing. If EA had their way they would have churned out one shitty annual casual sequel after another with premium passes and MTX galore.
Since that hasn't happened, I'm pretty sure it's Disney who are behind the cancellations and the casual friendly, family friendly shittification.

It looked terrible to me. 10 secs of corridor walking, cutscene. 5 secs of corridors, cutscene. 20 secs of corridor, press X to proceed, fight stormtrooper mooks, 10 secs of corridor. Repeat ad nauseum.

And I sure hope that ALL the animations are place holders because they are janky and awfully stiff.

At least the main character has the dumbest looking facial expression since the original Max Payne. I guess that's something.

EA getting its hands on the Star Wars license was one of the greatest fucking mistakes in gaming.

Have you ever played the pen and paper Star Wars games? They're full of stuff that never happened in the movies, and make SW all the more interesting for it. IIRC the Jedi's could basically do any of the stuff you mentioned, assuming the dice rolls were favourable. Don't really understand why you are so dogmatic about it. It's all within the theme and genre. Perhaps as a Trekkie, I'm missing something?

Dude, spelling the plural of "Jedi" as "Jedi's" with an idiot's apostrophe is outrageous, even for a fucking Trekkie!

It is Jedi. Just Jedi. Always. Singular and plural. One Jedi, many Jedi, a gangbang involving Jedi, Return of the Jedi (or was the movie called "Return of the Jedi's" hmm?).

Also, I will inform my lawyer and demand damages from you because it was PHYSICALLY painful to even type "Jedi's".

People complaining about new Force Powers in this game should get their fandom cards revoked as well, since a LOT of force powers were introduced as canon in Dark Forces / Jedi Knight, much to the chagrin of Lore fundamentalists in the day.

For someone who says "lore" a lot it feels like you've never really watched the movies.

Would you kindly point me where exactly in the movies ( which movie and timestamp ) there is:

-Wall running
-Force slow down time ( it's not because they can move extremely fast, they could only RUN fast, not anything else in the movies )
-Mid air jumps
-Sabers just burning, not cutting limbs even tho they went right through
-Need for force vs speed versus enemies that can't deflect and/or block incoming hits
-Button mashing

Please enlighten me oh wise one.

Star Souls: Jedi Born.....

nice production quality, I'll give em that. If they can make the combat feel as good as Dark Souls, it'll be fun, but of course 1/2 the fun of the souls series is the ability to play with others in coop, plus the invasions, so I hope they implement something like that too. I just CBF with single player these days, except in rare circumstances where the story is worth it like with SOMA. (am not interested in Star Wars at all, but would play it coop)

YES they are doing bon-fires and enemy respawns, according to the commentary from IGN/Gamespot.
