Out of the Blue

The latest on moving our moving date is this may end up pushed out to the end of the month. As I mentioned, our sellers will be going on vacation next week, and it does not seem like they are interested in giving their lawyer power of attorney to complete the sale. This is a bit frustrating, but is considered normal. Our contracted closing date was basically today, but this is an "on or about" date in real estate terms, which means it actually could be any time within the next 30 days. So we may get to be on pins and needles for a good while longer.

No, you don't need to wash your fucking produce. That's pure fear-mongering bullshit fabricated by a bunch of pansy-ass snowflakes spouting fake science.

Climate change posing an "existential threat"??? Yeah, the world will end someday, and it will be caused by mankind, but it will have NOTHING to do with the environment. How it happens has been written down for over 2000 years, but nobody knows how to read anymore... they're too busy worrying about stupid shit, like washing produce.

This is masterpiece theater right here because you're right on the edge of being ridiculous or being totally serious. Regardless of how it goes, this post deserves accolades.

Yeah, but useful in Detroit where they don't have the money to fix the roads.

Thanks, I actually laughed out loud and scared the cleaning lady.
But you really need to put a /s on that considering Poe's Law and all, lest someone think you're being serious.

California, as I am sure shocks no one, also is quite full of the real estate red tape. Thank the jedi master in the sky for digital signatures/initialing. The packet to close on our house 5 years ago or so was crazy think. The owners were 1 week late moving out and, yeah, there didn't seem to be much we could do about it except play along. Everybody we were using for info told us the same thing, "it's normal to have minor delays". I was amazed that a whole week was considered minor. It was a learning experience that is for sure.

Crazy, you can be sued for shit like that around here. I guess I should be thankful that it seems to be a lot less problematic in our region. I was surprised our private sale went so well, I never realized how little agents do until I had to do the work myself. The lawyers office basically does everything important.

Good luck on completing that move/sale. What a fiasco debacle nightmare experience all that must be.

I'm sure you'll enjoy not having the hassles of home ownership and all that entails in the future.

I wonder if those airless tires could be adopted to motorbikes and bicycles.

Bell used to sell foam rubber airless donuts branded NoMorFLats, turns out they were only acceptable for kids bikes. Not only were they almost impossible to install and had to be cutoff if the tire ever needed replacing, they made annoying squeakie squealing noises on the rim, plus they destroyed spoked wheels by not evenly distributing impacts if you weighed more than a toddler.

I use a combo of thorn resistant tubes, slime and tire liners.
Rarely do I have to pull out bike #2 because #1 flatted.

Loads of "professionals" we're dealing with agree this is frustrating, but "normal" for the area. This comes from our real estate agent, to our mover, to our lawyer, to friends with experience in the field.

Apparently this is due in good part to New York being the worst state in the union to conduct such a transaction due to red tape.

Sorry man, that really sucks. Moving is my least favorite thing to do and its already a high stress thing as it is. Hopefully the sellers have some mercy at some point because there is so much shit to coordinate (movers, utility hookups, deliveries, etc etc) and they must've gone through the same thing themselves.

I'm surprised by your last few updates, is this typical in your area? Normally I've always had a firm closing date on moves and that included our last house which we did as a private sale. I can't imagine trying to coordinate everything with a closing date that's just totally up in the air, its stressful enough without that nonsense.
