I find the lack of faith in Patrick Stewart disturbing.

I find the faith in Alex Kurtzman disturbing.

Thankfully Kurtzman isn't the showrunner on this. He'll be busy with Discovery anyway since it got re-upped for season 3.

Thats not the problem though. Some of the best Trek episodes out there, elicited a huge emotional response. Remember when Data "made" a daughter, and she died at the end?

Meant the overall tone.

Oh good, we've gone the grim and bleak route again. Picard left Starfleet!

Sigh.

Also, noticed the very JJ Abram'esque / STD'esque attempt at illiciting an emotional response instead of trying to make you think ala classic Trek?

The problem is that the way Discovery is going about it is about as cheesy as you can get, and the characters are so fucking badly written and annoying (especially Burnham) that the only emotional response I can muster is annoyance at best, and raging hatred at worst.

Are they still targeting the ADHD emotion and conflict/darkness starved crowd or what?

CBS, could we simply go back to light, positive, humanity can do better, amking you think Star Trek? Thank you!

Yeah... still not holding my breath.

I don't have a problem with that as long as its good. Discovery is shit. I can't believe the raves the second season is getting, it's still terrible. The writing is worse than the worst episodes of TNG or TOS. If this ends up having the same style and type of vapid, braindead, badly thought out script then it doesn't matter whether it's dark, light, comedic or cerebral sci-fi.

This better be fucking good, lets hope that Patrick Stewart isn't just going for the cash-grab.

Best watched drinking Chateau Picard. And if you want to like the series - drink 3 or 4 bottles per episode! Drunk2

If retiring to your family vineyard in France and making wine is grim and bleak, sign me the fuck up for grim and bleak.
