PC Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls This Month

Publisher XSEED Games announces Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls is coming to PCs on May 29th, offering wider access to this adventure/RPG first released on the PS3 in 2011. A Launch Date Trailer offers a look at how this has and has not been updated since the original version. The game already has a Steam listing, which does not show whether this will come to Linux and/or macOS in addition to Windows. Here's word:
XSEED Games, the independent-minded publishing brand of Marvelous USA, Inc., today announced that Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls, a beloved entry in the long-running dungeon crawling RPG series that has influenced the genre for nearly 40 years, will launch on Windows PC via Steam and the Humble Store by Humble Bundle on May 29, 2019 for $14.99, €14.99, and £12.99, with a launch week discount of 10%.

Originally released on the PS3™ system in 2011, Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls allows players to choose from eight classes and five races to build a six-person team with diverse but complementary skill sets. During exploration, players are able to change character classes as needed or focus on leveling up their primary class to earn bonus skills. This new PC version of the game has been upgraded to modern PC standards with HD graphics, support for various resolutions, customizable controls supporting gamepads and mouse and keyboard, and a newly introduced Turbo Mode. The PC version will also include all previously released DLC content for completionist adventurers.

I watched the trailer and it was a little too weird for me.

As for Legend of Grimrock, I have those. Good games, however they were what I was referring to when I mentioned annoying aspects of modern games. I don't like time limits in games where you are rewarded for exploring.

I actually had to give up on my first Grimrock play through because I ran out of food. That's inexcusable in my opinion. Just not fun.

A combo Wizardry/Grimrock game would be nice with the annoying parts of each removed. I play enough FPS and other competitive twitch games. A nice modern casual dungeon crawl would be nice.

I liked Wizardry back in the day, when there wasn't much better around. I'm not a person who believes in nostalgia when it comes to video games. I played WOW, had full tier 1 and tier 2 sets when that was as good as you could get. However, I don't see the upcoming WOW classic as being appealing. I'd prefer Blizzard took a chance and tried to make a better MMO. Get rid of the crazy grind mechanics.

However, 15 years later and people are still paying for WOW. It's ironic that is probably what keeps a better product from being produced. But hey, WOW gave us Overwatch...bleh.
