It started in the first few seconds ingame. My character stood up from his bed. I walked up to my little table and in a very unresponsive and unintuitive HUD system finally managed to pick up a pack of space-food. I looked at it and didn't care for it, so I dropped it.
It fell through the floor. It was gone.
Yup, same thing happened to me when I started. I went to (very jankily, I might add) grab something from the table, like the food or the cup and then I went to put it back and it just kinda fell or got sucked to the floor and disappeared. The cup actually sat on the table for a split-second and then fell through, appeared for another split second down toward the floor before disappearing for good. Oh my fucking god, seriously?! Seriously?!? How much money? HOW MANY YEARS?!?
But that wasn't the end of it, oh no no no! I walked out into the corridor, not really knowing where or what the hell I was doing or going. I brought up the 'mobiGlass' PDA thing and that was...pretty much broken. If I attempted to open the main menu with ESC with the mobiGame..I mean mobiGlass open, the menus would stay on the screen even after exiting out of them. I had to back out all the way to the main menu to get it off. Then, looking down at my 'body', it seems I was leaking air? All this seemed to be 'venting' out of my suit, like I'd gotten a bunch of holes in it. But I was in a station which had it's own air, so why would I need to have air on in my suit? Walking around brought sounds of airlocks and doors opening and closing, some quietly, some SUPER-FUCKING-'right next to your eardrum'-LOUD!
I eventually found my way down to where you can spawn a ship outside. Clicking on one of the ships, any one it seemed, automatically sent me to the desktop, without warning or fanfare. Like as if all the ships were the 'Exit to desktop' option in the main menu! *Click*, boom, desktop. DONE!
Wha...how...who...WTF?!? Something's not right here. Game performance was abysmal unless I had it on 'Baked Potato'. Not to mention there aren't really a lot of graphical options to being with! Certainly not enough to really get down and tweak to get into that sweet spot of performance vs. quality. I dare say that this thing is worse off than it was when I tried it over two years ago! Sure, there's more 'to do'. But it's still all just a mish-mash of disconnected parts haphazardly strung together with the digital equivalent of 'Flex Seal'! And this time I even had a much better video card than before and it didn't seem to matter one damn bit! I can't believe that they can look at this, that Roberts himself, can look at this and say, 'Yup, we're on track and lookin' good!'. Fuckin' delusional, mate!
