Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order in November

Respawn Entertainment has revealed the promised first details about Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, saying their upcoming Star Wars game will come to Windows and consoles on November 15th. They promoted the presentation on Twitch, but that stream crapped itself pretty quickly, so luckily this was also on YouTube. Word is this will is a Jedi fantasy story game with no multiplayer and no microtransactions. Combat is melee-oriented, and requires you to identify an exploit your opponents' weaknesses. The player is Cal, a padawan who survived the slaughter of the younglings after Order 66 from Star Wars Episode 3. This sets the game during the "dark times" that requires Cal to avoid detection by the Empire, which is seeking to wipe out the last vestiges of the Rebellion. They also confirm your character will be accompanied by a little buddy droid called BB-1, who will assist you with your missions, and, of course, enchant you with plucky droid charm. The presentation included the premier of an official reveal trailer. Word is this is uses in-game assets and is rendered with the actual game engine, but does not show gameplay, as they want to emphasize the storytelling aspects of the game. Here's the description of the clip:
Cal Kestis—one of the last surviving members of the Jedi Order after the purge of Order 66—is now a Padawan on the run. Experience this all-new single-player Star Wars™ story from Respawn Entertainment and EA Star Wars on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC this holiday season, 15 November 2019.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is an action-adventure game set after Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith™. Develop your Force abilities, hone your lightsaber techniques, and explore the ancient mysteries of a long-lost civilization—all while staying one step ahead of the Empire and its deadly Inquisitors.

Actual gameplay or it doesn't exist.

And yeah, really not keen on playing a child Jedi. It's a big galaxy let me play an alien FFS. I'd still rather have a Star Wars bounty hunter game in the vein of RDR or Weecher 3.

It seems they are incorporating some of the 'new' canon as well, the Purge Troopers and Second Sister were introduced in the recent Vader comics. And since the Clone Wars and Rebels shows are also in that canon, there are a few other Jedi alive like Ahsoka Tano, Kanan Jarrus, and Quinlan Vas so as a betting man I'm assuming they could make appearances in this game (and also Yoda and Obi-Wan, besides those there is also Coleman Kcaj, Oppo Rancisis, Master Uvell, Selrahc Eluos (mentioned in Vader comics), Ka-Moon Kholi.

I've been waiting a full decade for more single player SW games, and Respawn definitely has some developers with pedigree behind this title. Also as was mentioned below there some aspects of the SP Battlefront 2 that were good. The cutscenes and dialogue with Luke Skywalker alone were basically peak Luke, mimicing how he was in the Thrawn Trilogy, the one I would have rather seen TFA and TLJ.

An EA game without microtransactions? I don't believe it.

Don't worry. To make up for it they have probably chopped the story into a piecemeal like a sushi master and you will only get the real ending (DAI Trespasser DLC anyone?) if you buy the DLC.

Of course no gameplay. I got tired of these type of trailers 20 years ago. How does anything like this supposed to get someone pumped for the game?

So a Jedi version of Force Unleashed.. Not very creative, but it should be fun unless they really went out of their way to screw it up.

Hey, if that's what it is, I'd probably be okay with it. provided it doesn't have the retarded boss battles of FU (especially the last battle against Vader in FU2, which takes for fucking ever, and if you take one bad step, oh, start over back at square 1!)

But by and large those two games were pretty fun to play.

Of course, I played both of them off my one month of Premium, so for $60 there's no way I'd bite on this if that's what it turns out to be.

^ ROFLMAO

Man, even AngryJoe who has some of the lowest standards on the planet mocked the living shit out of the retarded four hour BF2 single player campaign. Here's a quick reminder.

I have zero faith in EA or Disney or Respwan to deliver a decent game. Titanfall 2 free trial was one of the fastest uninstalls ever on my PC. What a piece of shit game with its stupid jump & run wallrunning mechanic.

Jedi Fallen Order is a game to promote Episode IX. You can count the number of decent Star Wars movies after Episode VI on ZERO fingers just like you can count the number of decent Star Wars games that "coincided" with movie launches on exactly ZERO fingers.

Oh, and no MTX? Great. Instead it will probably get a lame premium currency like BF5 right after it has launched.

I mean, the premise sounds pretty cool on paper and I believe that the still mostly unexplored era between III and IV is definitely the best possible setting but the TFU games have proven that there is a huge divergence between theory and practice when it comes to making a decent post ep III game.

As long as it is as fun, combat wise, as Jedi Academy was, I'll look in to it. Otherwise, pass.

Respawn gets some major leeway after Apex.

And Titanfall 1 and 2.
They haven't put anything bad out yet. Their polished game design is always noticeable. I suppose this is their chance to fuck it all up, but it seems unlikely.

No gameplay. Only the kids can possibly get excited by this.
