Borderlands 3 on Epic Games Store in September

2K Games and Gearbox Software confirm a recent rumor with the announcement of a September 13th release date for Borderlands 3, also confirming speculation that the PC edition of the shooter sequel will be exclusive to the Epic Games Store until a year from now. The Xbox Wire has a write-up on the game and an Official Announce Trailer, and the game's listing on the Microsoft Store suggests Windows and Xbox One cross-platform support, showing "cross-platform co-op" as one of the game's capabilities. The press release includes box art and a couple of screenshots, but this is still fairly preliminary, as more revelations are planned for next month: "For more details on the story, characters, gear, and everything else you’ll find in Borderlands 3, tune in on May 1 for the extended Gameplay Reveal Event livestream." There are plans for four different editions with escalating perks: A Standard Edition ($59.99 USD), a Deluxe Edition with bonus digital content ($79.99 USD), a Super Deluxe Edition with a Season Pass ($99.99 USD, or $119.99 after September 17th), and a Diamond Loot Chest Collector's Edition with all the preceding bonuses and a bunch of physical goodies ($249.99 USD). Here's word on their partnerships with the Epic Games Store and AMD:
PC Gaming on Steroids in Collaboration with AMD and the Epic Games store:
Developed from the ground up with AMD, Borderlands 3 will take full advantage of the most powerful PC hardware available, and is optimized for top performance and incredible gaming experiences on AMD Radeon™ graphics cards and Ryzen™ CPUs.

At launch on September 13, Borderlands 3 will be available for PC exclusively through the Epic Games store. Borderlands 3 will be available on additional PC digital storefronts in April 2020.

“The PC gaming community has been an important part of the success of the Borderlands series, and we are excited to be partnering with Epic who recognize its worldwide popularity and share in our commitment to bring Borderlands 3 to this rapidly expanding audience,” said Ismailer. “Our mission, in addition to delivering the most engaging and captivating entertainment experiences, is to embrace new distribution platforms that will contribute to our effort to grow the audience for Borderlands 3.”

Yet another reason to be meh about BL3. See you with the GOTY/Gold edition with all of the endless DLC they put in.
The BL DLC is pretty much quality, my dude. Worth the money, and in many cases, superior to the original game.

Doesn't matter which store... I'd never give Gearbox a dime after DNF and ACM.

I hear you, but what I find funny is it seems you were (and I'm sorry to be blunt) dumb enough to buy them to begin with. What was the rush or thought process on your end there? I'm not mad at him because I didn't even sniff at those two dogs.

Never bought them / played them. Just pissed they turned out too shitty to even be worth bargain bin prices. Was looking forward to both titles at the time.

I wouldn't put anything at all on Gearbox for DNF.

I'm not exactly following the logic here.
A studio makes a bad game. Many years later the studio makes a good game.
What is the train of thought that goes through a persons mind when they say they won't buy a game because several years ago the studio made a bad game. It's not like the devs came over and shaved his head or stuck his hand in warm water while he slept. It's illogical.
Ford made the pinto, people still buy fords. Boeing makes the 737 Max 8, airlines will still buy them and people will still fly in them.

They don't care too too much, they are buying insurance getting dev dollars to fund the game. It will still sell some on release and some again later after exclusivity. Hell they'll probably find this works better, they get 3 big pays days now vs 1. So fuck me world.

We may even find out some will be stubborn and not move to other platforms when the time runs out, perhaps Epic will even through a few more dollars to stay exclusive forever then. Face it they have stupid money right now to do it. I still punch the wind when Sweeney was trying to tell us how MS was trying to strong arm the gaming market and look what we have here?

So is every new hyped game going to be an Epic Store exclusive now?

To those that won't buy on Epic, I haven't yet, unsure when I will.

This is a boon to other AAA studios with their own launchers, less comp.

I've been a patient gamer for a long time now 1 year is probably around the time I was buying AAA games already, most of the time probably even more. So really no change here.

So if it's a great game, you wouldn't buy it due to past terrible games? I don't get this philosophy. More power to you, but The Witcher 3 Gearbox' name on the opening splash screen, rather than CD Projekt Red, you'd be missing a hell of a game due to two games they didn't even design. For me, I'll exercise caution, but I'm not passing up a great game just because the studio released some stinkers. Pretty much every studio has done some stinkers.

Actually has more to do with Randy's lies and Gearbox's mismanagment of those titles than "design".

Other than some Half-Life expansions 18 to 20 years ago... I think they are shit as a company and marginal as developers. I have zero interest in Brothers in Arms or Borderlands.

on another note...

Witcher 3 was awesome. Witcher 1 sucked balls (IMO). It took a lot of convincing from friends to get me to try 3. After playing 3, I don't know if I could play 2 since the consensus is that it is not as good.

Witcher 2 was good. Choices were strong, and the combat is much better than the first game. Witcher 3 put some nice extra polish on it but at it's heart it's the same system.
