if you're willing to spend money, you can just get an HBO sub on amazon and watch whenever you want. DVR is so 2000s anyway =P. on demand streaming is the future.
Hmm, that seems like a reasonable option. I am a Prime member already. Do you know, if I sub to HBO or other premium channels, do they just appear within Prime Video app? Looking around the site I would assume that's how it works, but it isn't stated clearly. Specifically, I'm wondering if I'll be able to get the HBO via my smart TV's Prime app...

there'll be a separate row for any paid channels you have. in addition there's a 'channels' tab at the top that shows all channels you've paid for. hbo go is the same thing for the same price, although you might get HBO original shows a tad earlier, but Barry just came out tonight and it's already available on my amazon hbo sub.
