S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Re-Re-Announced

A new tweet from S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Official announces S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 for release in 2021, or as they put it the shooter sequel is A. N. N. O. U. N. C. E. D. for release in 2.0.2.1., because periods. This is actually a re-re-announcement of a new installment in this irradiated series, as this project has been buffeted by the turbulence surrounding the shutdown of original developer GSC Game World. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 was first announced in 2010 before news in 2012 that development was "frozen." Then came the news last May that a reformed GSC Game World was resuming the project, and they further teased this last month. They now announce the game once again, and while we assume this will involve a new foray into the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, it may just be someone is trying to win a bet over how many times the same project can be announced. There's certainly plenty of time to repeat this process a bunch more times over the next two years. Keep an eye on the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Website for details and perhaps additional official announcements of this game.

After all the years I've been a PC gamer, it's gotten to the point where I don't pay attention to any game until right before the actual release date. I'm talking like, 3 to 4 weeks. Any longer than that and my thoughts are, "Yeah, whatever, got better things to pay attention to right now." It's just not worth the energy and anticipation to keep an eye on a game that's a year or two away from release, especially when you know damn well it will probably get delayed again anyway. (Or perhaps even cancelled in some cases.)

Hell, I go beyond that and wait for the Enhanced/Developers/Complete/etc editions with all the patches and DLCs.

^ this

Zero fuxx given until there is a GOTY. Every game is a piecemeal these days. I prefer the whole feast. They can shove their early access beta releases up their collective dumb bungholes.

Ya hear that GSC? G.O.T.Y O.R. G.T.F.O.

Period.

They prolly just want to make sure we all know that it is coming... because they know The Farm 51 is pretty active these days promoting Chernobylite, a very similar project.

Not a good sign they are RE announcing a game at least two years from now. Not to mention, they think using .... after each letter is STILL a thing.

very true.

No one from the original team is there working on this.

If it actually releases in 2021 , that is over an 11 year dev cycle at least.... so ...

I feel like this game is going to be a disappointment to everyone who loved the first one.
