Out of the Blue

Happy World Water Day 2019. Here's word on this year's theme: "The theme for World Water Day 2019 is ‘Leaving no one behind’. This is an adaptation of the central promise of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development: as sustainable development progresses, everyone must benefit."

I have Bethesda's line up of titles for their upcoming "Bethesda Game Days" at PAX EAST. There are two Elder Scrolls games mentioned. The Elder Scrolls: Blades and The Elder Scrolls: Legends. Blades is a mobile game. Legends is a trading card game. Disappointed. I had assumed a proper Elder Scrolls 6 would be announced.

Uh-huh, and 3 months prior the Trump administration was trying to weaken the clean water act. If it looks like shit and smells like shit...

Climate change and fresh water scarcity are not unrelated. In addition to population pressures, climate change induced desertification will exacerbate water shortages. Bottled water is already more expensive than gasoline per gallon.

I'm sure he's got some buddies in the water purification business, like the CEO of Nestle. They can get a nice government contract to desalinize aquifers that are suffering from saltwater intrusion, and then sell the water to the public. Everybody profits, or at least the people that matter profit.

We used to pull teeth without anesthesia too, but it's barbaric to do it today.

Yeah, and I imagine the US will annex Canada for its resources and then we'll see Fallout play out in real-life....

"War. War never changes.

The Romans waged war to gather slaves and wealth. Spain built an empire from its lust for gold and territory. Hitler shaped a battered Germany into an economic superpower.

But war never changes.

In the 21st century, war was still waged over the resources that could be acquired. Only this time, the spoils of war were also its weapons: Petroleum and Uranium. For these resources, China would invade Alaska, the US would annex Canada, and the European Commonwealth would dissolve into quarreling, bickering nation-states, bent on controlling the last remaining resources on Earth.

In 2077, the storm of world war had come again. In two brief hours, most of the planet was reduced to cinders. And from the ashes of nuclear devastation, a new civilization would struggle to arise.

A few were able to reach the relative safety of the large underground vaults. Your family was part of that group that entered Vault Thirteen. Imprisoned safely behind the large Vault door, under a mountain of stone, a generation has lived without knowledge of the outside world.

Life in the Vault is about to change."

a sharp tug on the controls of older models of Boeing Co’s 737 used to shut off an automatic trim system
But Boeing disabled the “yoke jerk” function when it brought out the 737 MAX, - and many pilots were unaware of the change.
