I mean, part of it is that, if you're a victim of murder, you're not a consumer of video games anymore. If you're a victim of rape, you are. Playing as a character raping or being raped isn't really novel or fun if you've been raped yourself.
And while, yes, the family of victims of murder play games, it isn't quite the same. Putting in something that you are 100% certain will harm many potential consumers is usually not a smart way to go, and few stories are made better with rape.
I can sort of see that argument, but let's be honest, is someone who was a victim of rape ever going to play this?
And obviously he doesn't do this to attract many customers. He'll be lucky if he sells 500 copies.
I just genuinely don't get it. We allow hentai to be sold in the US where underage schoolgirls get tentacle raped by demons, but once it's a game OH NOES it's taboo?
MMm, I agree with Creston. There are rape porn videos, books with rape, movies with rape...I mean, yeah. It's not something I would have an interest in, but I can't see flipping out about it either.
I think killing is more accepted by society because there are genuine circumstances in reality where killing someone is justified, and at times even legal. You can't really say the same about rape. Without making up ridiculous, non-real world scenarios, there simply isn't any justification.
