Out of the Blue

Dug out of some more snow today. This seemed almost pointless because it's so warm it would probably all melt off by itself with no human intervention. It was pleasant enough that I wore my new pajama pants shoveling uniform again. But this still seems prudent: There's more snow in the forecast, and it's not worth risking a melting, snowy refreeze situation that could result in a nightmarish ice sheet scenario.

Serious, really? Yes I am as serious as this sarcastic, tongue in cheek, non-existent award. In all other mentions of it the question of whether a prospective candidate has pro created has never been brought up, so i'll give you that. Wink

G-Ma's qualify.
The Darwin Awards are a tongue-in-cheek honor, originating in Usenet newsgroup discussions around 1985. They recognize individuals who have supposedly contributed to human evolution by selecting themselves out of the gene pool via death or sterilization by their own actions.
By definition, grandmothers have already contributed to the gene pool. Dying after that is most assuredly NOT contributing to human evolution.
No where in the definition does it state that previous contributions are forbidden.

I'd almost feel bad about mentioning it, but since the Internet loves to hate on Florida, I'll just note that due to the almost continuous above average temps we've been having, I've been in my pool for the past couple of weeks. Not continuously of course.

Ah, global warming. I can swim in my pool a lot sooner in the season than before, and in a couple of decades I'll have oceanfront property. At least for a few years, till my house goes under too.

My dad was a big am radio listener in the 80s and 90s,and that stuff warps people like shouting YouTube videos do today - so many people get their views from angry white dudes on either platform, always far right. But my dad is absolutely a climate change skeptical.

What stops him in his tracks is reminding him that, 30 years ago, he bought his kids ice skates. We used them on local ponds. It's been at least 15 years since anyone has skated on those ponds - they just don't freeze enough anymore. Sure, we get very cold days, but not sustained long enough to freeze a pond safe enough to skate. My parents grew up on ponds, so this makes my dad realize how much our weather has shifted.

Next week, after a dose of Fox News, he's forgotten this.

Yeah this is when we get to the tricky part. You see most of the so called "leaders" on moral and ethical questions have 0 qualms with testing on animals. However try and use a human cell, organ or let alone patient and suddenly everyone is up in arms. It's kind of pathetic.

Yeah, so damn annoying. They need to get rid of the penny, possibly the nickel, and paper $1 bills. The USA is literally throwing millions of dollar per year down the toilet by not doing this. The stuff about not wanting to get rid of the penny because of Lincoln REALLY gets my danruff up -- and I'm from Illinois, "The Land of Lincoln". He's on the five... *argh!* I wouldn't oppose killing anyone supporting that argument.
