Dead or Alive 6 Released

Dead or Alive 6 is now available for PC and consoles, and the Windows edition can be found on Steam, and those who pick up the brawler sequel this month will receive an early purchase bonus of an additional character and an extra alternate costume. The launch trailer shows off the ass-kicking action this offers in cinematic form. The announcement has word on the game along with details on season one content that will be added over the next few months:
Today, KOEI TECMO America and Team NINJA officially launched DEAD OR ALIVE 6, inviting players to once again step inside the world of DOATEC’s underground fighting scene to compete against some of the most brutal and beautiful fighters ever created.

“I’m incredibly proud of the work and effort Team NINJA put behind this game,” said Yohei Shimbori, DEAD OR ALIVE 6’s Director and Producer. “As a fighting game fan, I sincerely hope players from across the world love competing in the game as much as I do.”

DEAD OR ALIVE 6 delivers intense fighting entertainment in the form of one-on-one battles inside a variety of exciting, interactive stages including everything from a giant attacking kraken to tenacious pterodactyls. Players can step up their skills through the newly designed Quest mode, built to challenge fighters while also teaching them the necessary survival skills to advance before pushing forward into the most thorough Training mode the franchise has ever seen. Add in online slugfests and a Story mode full of laughter, tears, and monumental character moments true to the franchise, and DEAD OR ALIVE 6 is ready to rock even the most faithful fighting fan to their core.

In addition, Team NINJA revealed even more details on DOA6’s Season Pass 1. The DLC will be available for purchase beginning today for $92.99 and will include two new fighters from SNK’s THE KING OF FIGHTERS XIV – including Mai Shiranui and a yet to be announced character – as well as 62 new costumes: DOA6 Happy Wedding Costumes Vol. 1 and 2, DOA6 New Costumes set Vol. 1 and 2, additional character costumes for the two SNK fighters, and bonus costumes for NiCO and Nyotengu. Season Pass 1 content will be made available between March and June 2019.

The DLC for their previous game totaled up to ~$1150.

With the instant-unveiling of a $92 "season 1 pass" for this one, it looks like they're shooting for at least $2000 in DLC for this one! Next-gen baby!

93 bucks for a season pass. God fighting games have become such a massive cash grab. Thanks Capcom for starting the trend.

Hey, modern games cost money. Those bewb physics aren't going to program themselves.
If Russia stops fighting, the war ends. If Ukraine stops fighting, Ukraine ends. Slava Ukraini!

Lol, fighting games were invented as a cash grab. How many billions of quarters have been spent on losing a match in less than a minute since the late '80s?

Anyway, if you'll notice, that season pass averages $1.45 per item and is made up of 97% cosmetics. So it's simple enough to skip for anyone who isn't a hardcore fan.

I could have put myself through college with the amount of quarters I dumped into Tekken 3 matches.

Unless you are Street Fighter 5 where nearly the entire character list is behind a paywall.

I also didn't like that paying for the expensive version of MKX when that released did not include Goro who was an immediate DLC extra character for like 5 bucks. It was crazy. It was like, why did I pay extra money for this version again?

I still own my DOA2 for Dreamcast. Was one of my favorite fighting games on that console. Good times.
