Makes Hellgate London look content rich by comparison. Damn I actually miss that game. Shit, who would have thought I'd ever utter those words...

PC Invasion: As one NPC says during a conversation: “Some people like boring.” If you do, you’ll like Anthem at its current state.

Oh, I'd forgotten about this.

"It's contiguous," says Anthem lead producer Mike Gamble. "Once you're in the open world, you just run around the open world. There's no loads. Everything's contiguous. You have access to the whole thing."

There are fucking loading screens to enter a fucking ROOM that's behind a fucking DOOR, Mike Gamble, you lying quack.

Yeah, you can easily subtract -10 points or one point or one star from every review score to account for the BioWare bonus.

Worse reviews than Andromeda by like a full 10 points, and Andromeda was a last minute re-development rush job by a B-team.

Andromeda is a substantially better game than Anthem is. Which is just maddening. If they had put THIS kind of effort for performance capture into Andromeda, and had put this combat into Andromeda, Andromeda would likely have been the best Mass Effect yet. :\

But nope, EA wanted their looter shooter. If not for the SWBF2 fiasco last year, Anthem would likely have had loot boxes coming out the ass. They probably would have put those up during all the load screens.

Yep. Super annoying that they half-assed Andromeda just so they could make this less fun game. Mass Effect IP deserves better than that.

The Gggmanlives is not as clear as it's being made out to be.

He's part of some EA sponsored streamer program and, if I'm understanding it correctly, he did not follow the proper guidelines with the posting of his Anthem review.

The blacklisting part seems true, but probably not because of the negative review, but because for not following the correct protocol due to this paid gig agreement/contract.

I really want Bioware to succeed but having played this a fair bit, I can't help feeling like they're getting what they deserve here. It's an extremely frustrating game that feels like it was designed without any playtesting. I can't really imagine someone playing this and thinking that this many loading screens is OK. Likewise who thought "Yeah we want to hide the inventory in a boring town that no one wants to visit behind a loading screen". Hell even the mission select screen is obtuse somehow and the UI is a trainwreck. Everything about the game screams minimum viable product.

Some of the design decisions are just so disconnected from reality and fascinating in a terrible way. I would love to hear a post-mortem of this games development some day.

The only review I quickly read and it completely goes into the fact of the loading which was my primary reason to uninstall when I tried the demo. Too much load, too long, and too often. It's not fun when you are spending your time mostly staring at a loading screen.

The worse was I joined a mission/team that was just about to finish the mission. After all the loading time to get in, I was then stuck at a loading screen within 3 minutes of game play just to get out. Terrible.

I actually think the only thing that MEA had going in its favor was the combat and the gameplay. Combat was the very least of its problems to me.

Where MEA raced off the cliff full throttle was story and characters, especially when compared to the awesome ME2.

There were so many embarrassing moments and lines in the first few hours already that it tainted the game beyond any hope of salvation. It was one facepalm after another, a cringefest of epic proportions. What a fucking muppet show...

The combat and the gameplay was MEA's saving grace that elevated it from a 2/10 to a 6/10 game.
For "best Mass Effect yet" it would have required a complete rewrite and a replacement of nearly every single character including the dopey main character Ryder.
Cmdr Shepard was so many leagues above that hipster kiddo it ain't even funny...

Typically yes in this case, this is different.

For example, a lot of the issues/reviews one will read now are more starter gameplay reviews. This game has a whole different thing going on later on that I don't think I've ever seen happen in an online game that has been released by a major publisher.

My #1 dislike for Destiny is your numbers are so tightly controlled that it bores me beyond playing the content. There will never be a fun drop where you feel a lot different after.

Anthem omg, I giggle inside, they right now have the game where it has no bastion of control here. At the same end game level you can have someone doing 50x more damage than another based on a good drop. Or another will 50x more health than another. You can have people yelling at others because they suck and well no one knows what drops the other has or not and their gameplay reflects that and it couldn't be a wider spread.

The difficulty levels go up so sharply to and if you are a have not, you can be one shotted or can't do damage. They are finding out the powers aren't scaling well and then it becomes a game of gun drop luck. People state only a Colossus right now can really power through because of their health and defense. They say an Interceptor can't play their melee role because they do exactly zero damage in that role , kick, punch, twirl, punch = ZERO and they have to revert to gun play and hope they have a good gun.

Think of any online game and if there was a player doing 50 damage per hit and another doing 2500 per while the poor guy has 1000 HP and the other 10000 HP... this can happen here, not those exact numbers but that kind of spread, unprecedented!

This stuff probably won't be found in reviews but are the comments for players out there finding out. Then there are still a shit ton of inscriptions not working or sometimes do and sometimes don't, some on certain javelins, others javelines not.

I have a 1TB NVME SSD and loads are still 20+ seconds. I'm guessing there is a lot of optimization to do related to netcode because disk activity is flat after 10 seconds, it's probably all matchmaking nonsense.
