Rumor: Activision Plans Restructuring and Layoffs

Activision Blizzard is planning to announce layoffs next week "which could number in the hundreds," according Bloomberg where they attribute this to the current "painful stretch for the video-game industry." This is not confirmed, but the report is said to be "according to people familiar with the matter." Word is this will be part of a restructuring:

The layoffs, which could number in the hundreds, are part of a restructuring aimed at centralizing functions and boosting profit, said one of the people, who asked not to be identified because the changes havenít been announced. Activision employed 9,800 people at the end of 2017.

The game maker, one of the largest in the world, acknowledged on a November conference call that some key titles, such as Overwatch and Hearthstone, were seeing flat or declining numbers of users. After disappointing sales of Destiny 2: Forsaken, the company parted ways with its developer, Bungie Inc., a move that could reduce annual revenue by as much as $400 million.

Analysts expect Activisionís sales to decline by about 2 percent this year, to $7.28 billion.

It is time!

Bungie can remake or make a new Myth: The fallen lords game!

Maybe its rose colored glasses, but a drunken dwarf throwing Molotov cocktails murdering everything insight, Happy Childhood!

Young me wants that so bad, but old me has no patience for RTS games any longer.

Activision has to accept its new customers: nerds in the 90s, morons with cell phones in the 10s.

Activision will understand what players want: battle royale games with funny hats and winning poses. So ActiBlizz will go multiplayer only, strictly no story, but lots of microtransactions. Add to this annual season passes - one game, new dlcs and microtransactions each year (can be bought separately or as one season pass per year).

Also: After Diablo Mobile (make it multiplayer only!), there has to be Call of Duty Mobile (again multiplayer only). And both need to have tiny bits and pieces the players can buy for just $0.99 or $1.99. PROFIT!

Does the "painful stretch for the video-game industry" have anything to do with investors demanding greater and greater profit margins and to hell with anything else?

Yeah, this is quite amusing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KRBeBAWhhQ

The divorce with Bungie isn't a real shocker but their mismanagement of the Blizzard portfolio certainly is.

The one thing I find odd is that this keeps coming as "rumor"s. Why not just come out and say whatever. When has this group ever worried about taking a PR hit for saying, really, whatever they want to say. Then again, maybe ActiB is gearing up to really surprise!

We have checked our balance sheets gentlemen and we are hurting. Our once Khone Falls of raw cash money has slowed to a pathetic Niagaran trickle.

Between CoD and WoW we could just ignore this and continue our literal harvest of gold, but Lord Kotick finds a 2% drop in sales to be far from "diddle"-worthy.

Instead we will restructure as follows: 1/2 of you are fired, you can leave now or be fed to the sarlacc. The other 1/2 of you will fight to the death. Those who fall will have their property dumped into the great money pit. We think these measures will return us to sound fiscal footing.

Making Call of Duty: BLOPS IV (yeah, IV!!!) multiplayer only was a great decision, right, Acti?

This won't even touch the people who need to be retired. It's great that Activision is feeling the heat but it's not like they'll learn anything. They'll just pad out their golden parachutes and push new ways to exploit the players.

What could it be? Very strange and mysterious indeed! It certainly can't have anything to do with crapping out one soulless casual monetization-focused grindfest multiplayer tard circus after another, right? Nah. That can't be it. It must be someone or something else's fault...

Get WOKE GO BROKE, this is what they get for adding female players to COD, because we all know that's unrealistic as WEMON have no place in the military or armed conflict.

Bobby Fuckdick made like 28 million dollars last year, and they're going to lay off hundreds of people. How about you pay that fuck 500K and keep all those people employed?
