Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order This Fall

Respawn Entertainment seems to have a pretty full plate, as in addition to the just-released Apex Legends and the revelation of a new premium Titanfall game, EA says the developer is still toiling away on Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, the new Star Wars game they revealed last spring. At the time they said this was due for this year's holiday season, and Variety says the investor conference call following yesterday's earnings report indicates the game is on track for release this fall. EA CEO Andrew Wilson describes the state of the game, which sounds far enough along to put that release on track:

“It’s very far along in development, and having spent time with it recently myself, it plays spectacularly well. This game truly captures the fantasy of becoming a Jedi, and we will have a lot more to share soon.”

Wilson said he played a 20 minute demo of “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order’ last week. “It is exceptional in terms of its level of polish depth and living inside of the star wars world as a Jedi,” he says. Still, little is known about the upcoming Star Wars title other than that it will be a third-person, single-player action game, and will be considered canon in the Star Wars universe.

"No" -me

I dunno, that sounds pretty good to me. As long as it's not polluted with MTs and l00tboxe$, and it's longer than 4 hours.

I know, it'd be awesome, right? I can't believe that somebody hasn't tried to do one already.

No one cares. The Jedi robes don't have a conical hood.

They also don't come in white.

You're on fire!

I look forward to the botched launch and grindy/p2w game economy that results in negative feedback so strong that it generates memes. You get a real sense of pride and accomplishment when that happens.

Hopefully they're updating the Jedi Knight or KOTOR formula with the production values of something like the latest God of War. Expectations are low, however.

Those prices are like 1/4 or even 1/8 of what SWTOR charges for cosmetic type things. For example, at 50% off it's normal price yesterday...there was lightsaber like the one Kylo Ren uses. That 50% price was still like 20 bucks. Seriously.

This is pretty much what I've seen charged for cosmetics. Everything from the Horse Armor, to Gears of War weapon skins, to the Black Ops 4 smile reticule fall into this pricing or less.
Well then I hope a pricing model closer to this makes it to the games I play, as it's much less offensive than what I'm used to seeing.

Those prices are *way* too low, by maybe like 50%. I've never seen an in-game cash shop cater to anyone but whales. It sucks, because some games I'd be happy to give extra monetary support for some things like this, but they charge so much per item that I immediately nope out of there.

Based on EA's quarterly report, this is the SPORTS game we're all looking forward to.

Yeah, right. SPORTS GAME.

...and to add Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order to our sports titles in the fall.

Either the suit didn't know what he was talking about, or we're all in a for a big, shitty surprise!

Alright, alright, I'm kidding!

I'd rather wait and see, the public has not seen the game at all
It's usually not a good sign when a game is not shown less than a year before its release. But yeah we can wait and see. I can stand the wait tbh

That certainly has to do with Episode IX marketing. I'm actually a little surprised that the game is supposed to be a fall release when IX is set for December 20.

I'd think it would come out at nearly the exact same time (though I guess technically anything before Dec 21 could be called 'fall').
Maybe they want the game out in "public beta" a little sooner so it is more polished when the movie goers rush the stores to buy their copies.

On the other hand it makes you wonder about possible spoilers when it comes out before IX... oh well, I'm not expecting much. The last fun Star Wars Jedi game was Academy.

It'd be a small miracle if this one would turn out to be not a turd like most Star Wars games. It's a pity that not more good games have been made with this iconic franchise but I guess the mainstream and casual appeal are always in the way of more decent games.

It's be a Star Wars CoD kind of game. Don't get your hopes up for anything beyond that. This is all Respawn know how to do.
