Do you know if there's any way to get those recovery codes out of the authenticators? I know I wrote them down somewhere, but fuck if I can remember where.
Found 3 of them. Does anyone know if GOG has recovery codes for their MFA?
GOG What is two-step login and how does it work?

Expensive secondary HQ's in places like LA, heavy investment in VR that didn't pan out. Buying up studios that were weird choices (like the one making a semi competitor to payday) and then releasing that game themselves, etc. Basically the dude had money coming out of his ears and burning a hole in his pocket and rushed to spend it everywhere in things that weren't their core competency, and spread themselves too thin.
We all read the Starbreeze article yesterday, and 4A is even more dependent upon its games being hits than Starbreeze was. There's zero diversification.
Almost a little like star citizen. Except in that case, they still have tons of people throwing wallets at them so they are going to survive for a while more. If that stops at any point, then they are only a few months away from bankruptcy at their burn rate. If that income continues until release, we might get a game. Not sure if it will be a good game though.

Amen. Every one of my store accounts (there's like six or seven of them now) is on MFA/2FA, and most of those are tied to my phone. I shudder to think how I would even ever recover them if something happens to my phone, or move them to a different device.
... I should probably look into that.
I had that happen a few years back, it was a big pain in the ass to recover accounts including Google, Origin, and Steam (easiest of the bunch). You gotta have a piece of paper somewhere with all your recovery codes on it, or put a text doc on a thumb drive and hide that someplace, then treat it like it's your damn birth certificate.

I think this pretty much explains why Steams the better platform and its pretty convincing.

True. Basically I use a password add-on and then export it from time to time. But lets expand our mind here a little, so we are talking "we don't like logins for all these damn game launchers", well beyond games we have a shit load of user/passwords. All your bills, any place you want to participate in some manner. So we already have dozens above and beyond games, we deal with that because it has logic needing that. Where is that one front end that can not only bring games into the mix but everything? Since that isn't happening and since we don't bitch much about non-game logins, games and just another login added to the long list of logins. It's where we are at, unless we get some other form of identification standardized. It's not just games, it's everything.

The choice of which platform to purchase on was never removed, making it far less anti-consumer in my view.
Somehow, I don't see Epic offering up much in the way of discounts in 3-6 months when they are the exclusive store for a game.

Hello? Since Steam became the quasi monopoly for PC games even if you bought a game retail in the store you needed Steam to get it to run! Where is the choice in that? Steam basically killed off retail games that you actually owned until GOG turned up. It's only fair and square to get some competition to this bloated store with no support at all!

It took a Steam a long time to get to that point. Returns are still pretty recent. Epic hasn't even existed long enough to do sales yet, and again, Steam didn't launch with Steam sales. And non-censorship? Steam only recently started allowing anime nudity, which I assume you're discussing, as nothing else has ever been censored on any of these retailers - video game censorship is generally a huge ball of nothing that people freak out without there being any true evidence of anyone taking your pixel boobs away.
Epic literally just launched. It's of course behind something that's about 15 years old. Steam wasn't built in a day. If revenue is flowing in, Epic will be able to build these things, much like Steam was able to.
Nah I mean games like hatred etc. that people were making such a fuss about.
Yea Epic has just started and I'm sure they will improve with time, but take a look at Origin and Ubi, those platforms have been around for quite a while now already and they don't even blip on the radar.
I'm thinking Epic is walking the same road as Ubi / Origin rather than a new GOG.
Prez wrote on Jan 29, 2019, 08:38:This... exactly.
For me it comes down to refusing to reward anti-consumer practices, and platform exclusivity is a big one for me.
