Out of the Blue

Today is Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) Day, a celebration of the slain civil rights leader and his dream. There are parades around the country to commemorate the occasion, but oddly none in New York City. Interesting MLK trivia: We've recently learned his name is very difficult to pronounce, proving a greater challenge for newscasters to get right than the name of former National Security Advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski.

Calling religious zealots "knowledgeable folk", is a bit of a stretch. The seemingly correct stance would be to say Giordano Bruno was the "learned" folk. Although I have to say equating Trump supporters to religious zealots would be spot on...

Great summary but you lost the average Trump-supporter/Republican/dipshit at the word "paradigm". Next time try something along the lines of "Learned folk all know world warming. If you no learned, you no count. Bad learned folk make lies about no world warming, get big money from lies. Warming world sure as big shakes make buildings fall down. Vroom vroom cars make world warmer. Warming world bad. Learned folk warn you."

Learned folk gave us the Tuskeegee Experiment and Aspartame as a food supplement delivered in a variety of vectors to your gastro-intestinal system. You might cut the Unlearned some slack that they've gotten a tad gun-shy along the way.. they're busy dealing with an opiod epidemic delivered to them by any number of Learned types in far more recent history than the previously mentioned crime against humanity expressed as medical experimentation on American soil.

Not dis/agreeing with your take on the climate change unbelievers, it's just bugs the living shit out of me when folks point to Knowledgeable folk being right because they 'know'. Knowledgeable folk burned Giordano Bruno at the stake when he corrected their knowledge and knowing, and looking about these days things don't look too far different, most especially in the full-contact science sport of humano-centric global climate change.

Not for nuttin', but it is one 'hell' of an interesting time to be living in, as regards that chinese proverb/curse, 'May you live in interesting times.'

Oh and what sort of worldwide scientifically accurate temperature measurement system were they using in hmmm.... let's say the year 1000??? Much less 18000bc.
Temperature measuring satellites have only been available for about 30 years and thermometers were invented in the sixteenth century.
Every thing else is "best guess" based on things like ice cores but, there is no guarantee those are accurate.
Look at any IPCC report and do a word search for "option" word like maybe or may or if or predict and you will find those sorts of words litter those reports.
I will always be against giving Billions of dollars to people who don't have the balls to put their reputation on the line to be more definite in their presentations.

Why Climate Deniers Have No Scientific Credibility - In One Pie Chart

TLDR
Scientists do not disagree about human-caused global warming. It is the ruling paradigm of climate science, in the same way that plate tectonics is the ruling paradigm of geology. We know that continents move. We know that the earth is warming and that human emissions of greenhouse gases are the primary cause. These are known facts about which virtually all publishing scientists agree.

Fossil fuels is a 10 trillion dollar industry. They have thrown lots of money around to obfuscate the truth.

The MLK march was canceled here in Ohio as it was -6.

Global warming is fact and we are causing it, but there is much debate over some of the outlandish claims of its supposed effects. At least most are worthy of a good head shake.

Jones wasn't asked back because Ghostbusters (2016) significantly under-performed, it needed to make at least 300mil after marketing costs and instead grossed 229m worldwide. The cast had no chemistry, the writing was bizarre and it was a pretty underwhelming affair outside of a clutch performance from Chris Hemsworth.

I was hoping for a Brees vs Brady Super Bowl. That would have been a battle for the pro football history books.

The current matchup is okay, but less intriguing overall.

Upon reading weather articles written by AP writers: It's going to be nice one day when the fad of being stupid is finally past and we can once again read a simple article about the local weather without reading some idiot blurb at the bottom about "global warming." GW is a political doctrine--and a false one, imo--so far removed from empirical science it's amazing.
