Blizzard Hiring for Unannounced Diablo Game

Blizzard Lists a bunch of new job openings for Diablo, suggesting production of a new installment in the action/RPG series is ramping up (thanks TweakTown). To be clear, these do not relate to Blizzard Immortal, the mobile game that disappointed fans upon its announcement, as openings for that game are listed separately. Each of the 19 positions includes "unannounced project" in the listing, but they are all categorized under Diablo. Here's what they say about this unannounced project from on of the listings:

We're working on a new, unannounced Diablo project. Are you a skilled, passionate, team-oriented games Producer? Come work with us, and together we will build something exceptional. Our growing team is diverse, talented, highly collaborative and deeply invested.

The unannounced Diablo sequel people have been waiting for:
Diablo: IImmortal
Or
Diablo: ImmortaI
Or
DiabIIo: Immortal
Or... ah, whatever!

You know it will suck if Blizzard for the first time "fasttracks" some game. I hope I am wrong - it's up to you, ActiBlizz, to convince me!

They're waiting for you, Gabe, in the test chamber!

I neither loved nor hated D3. It was one of the few games (count on one hand) that I have preordered for use on release. I was also one of the lucky to be playing on launch night with friends.

I have my monies worth from it so cannot complain, but it isnt as memorable as D2. It wasnt a good successor to D2 but again was playable with my friends. I wasnt too bothered about the always on requirement as I am lucky enough to have a reasonable connection, but I would have preferred not to be tied to online only. The auction house was a definite pain in the early days, that really ruined the game for many. Gold farmers were absolutely rife and it was obvious this would happen.

In short, all you need to do is release an up to date D2. Hell, it would probably sell well even if you left everything the same (BHAAAAL RUUUUUUN), but it shouldnt be too hard to remix some of D3 and rehash D2.

This wont happen though, it will be another dumbed down turd. Or they will first person it, the same way that fallout was ruined (IMHO, I loved the top down games)

Its not the cough that carries you off but the coffin they carry you off in.

If this is a REAL Blizzard game, it will take 8 - 10 years until release. If it is an Activision game, it should be out in 2020 or 2021 (at the latest) - no matter what! Blizzard never "fasttracked" any game because they took their time and tried different things and polished the game until they were happy with it. But with shareholders and quarterly earnings putting the pressure on ActiBlizz - I don't expect the release of a real Diablo IV. Maybe Call of Diablo IIII?

If they could actually pull off an FPS Diablo experience that would be pretty sweet. At least do it better than Hellgate: Onion.

Just play Doom. Same simpleton demon killing shit as Diablo but 1st person.

Yeah except Doom doesn't have classes or loot or leveling up or a fantasy setting etc. etc.

I know a few people who love diablo3... Personally I hated that piece of shit. Path of Exile was what diablo 3 should have been.

Anyways, I'm less than enthused for this game.

I imagine it is the Diablo II update. They took down the old client download and all that, just like they did with WC3 before announcing its update.

Could be something entirely new, but if they were supposed to be cutting costs a HD update is a safer bet.

You'd have to be a moron to take this job. Activision will shutter Blizzard within three years if they don't escape.

They turned it into something along the lines of a Diablo 2.5 imo with the RoS expansion and the patches. The original release with the RMAH was a complete turd, of course.

Anyway, the point remains: They have no fucking excuse whatsoever to take so long with their releases when those games feel like either outright downgrades (original D3 release) or like very minor incremental iterations (D3 patched + RoS).

What innovation do we have in D3? The only minor gimmick is you can drop chandeliers and other shit from the environment on the baddies. Big deal. Not.

Otherwise it's the same retarded clickfest as 1995 with the addition of dumbing it down even further (which is quite a feat).
You could at least make it pretty hard on yourself by gimping your character in D/D2 while in D3 it is impossible to fuck up your toon in any major way.

Blizztard has no excuse to take so long to produce such garbage. They should be really embarrassed about their poor output and voluntarily approach Activision asking for pay cuts.

The game is lacking any real innovation and plays like a modernized Diablo 2.5.

What the fuck are you on about? Everyone, and I mean everyone wanted a Diablo 2.5

If they only delivered Diablo 2.5, it would have been the shit. If it aint broken, don't fix it?

Instead we got Disney Diablo 1.5. Let me list some of the features that D2 had and which were missing from D3.

PVP
8 player games (down to 4)
Skill Trees
Battle.net lobbies/trade rooms
Game lobbies
An actual atmosphere
etc.

These are just from the top of my head, and there are probably a ton more.

STREAMLINING for the win right?
