Alien Game Tease?

A tweet from the official Alien Twitter account suggests a new Aliens game is in the works (thanks DSOGaming). This includes a brief video, asking the question "Who is Amanda Ripley?" The answer, of course, is she's the daughter of Ellen Ripley who was the protagonist in Alien Isolation (she was also in a deleted scene in Aliens). This suggests a sequel or prequel to Isolation, but that remains to be seen. To fuel further speculation, a trademark surfaced late last year for a video game titled Alien Blackout, so this all may or may not connect to that. Here's the text of the tweet:
Daughter. Rebel. Hero. Her story deserves to be told...

Both are great (Alien/Aliens), I can watch either one again and again w/out dread.

Alien Isolation was a complete fucking waste of time.

Your opinion certainly runs contrary to the metacritic score.

I had no trouble playing and completing Alien: Isolation and its DLC. I thought it was a fantastic, well done game and wanted more when I completed it.

Absolutely, can't wait.

Oh. I get it now.

Those of you who basically want DOOM: Alien are apparently referring to some new age garbage movies where the Alien was trivialized into serving as cannon fodder for some kewl lulz Ripley offspring dudette who pwnz Alien azz with her BFG gatling gunz.

Um. Yeah.

Glad I never watched any of that shit. There is only one true Alien and it's the 1979 flick with Weaver. That movie perfectly captured the horror and suspense of an unknown alien threat with a space ship crew stacked against overwhelming odds.

An awesome movie that focused more on how the Alien fucked with the crew's minds on a psychological level and how it changed them instead of boom boom splosions boom bang boom bang lol dead aliens loooool yeaaaaahhhhh right on baaaaabbbe shoot the fucker in the face luuuuuullllzzz.

Just watched it recently, I was surprised on how badly it holds up several decades later. Aliens still does though, and is the better movie.

Isolation was awesome and could be improved upon and should with a follow up. That said, I'm not against an action based one, but it could at the end break out into Isolation, sort of how the movies usually go, when it's down to the duo, it changes up to more tension vs action. Or like the original Predator, the end becomes Isolation in feel.

Now, now...the sentry guns only worked because of Hollywood magic of never-ending supply of ammunition for thematic effect

That's exactly the opposite of what happens in that scene considering it mostly consists of watching limited ammo counters running down to empty while Hicks talks. Then the aliens get past their defenses immediately after the ammo runs out.

While I was being somewhat facetious in my statement about the endless ammo, in all honesty, there's no way that 500 rounds could be housed in those turrets internally as was shown in the movie.

Well, since they have ammo drums on the side, I'm pretty sure they could hold 500 rounds.

True...but again, back to Hollywood magic, 99 of those rounds fit into a Pulse Rifle, so you have to either expect that these rounds aren't all that big, or they just magically increase in caliber dependant on the weapon firing them

For reference, the 10x28mm caseless that the turrets fire are uniformly used in the Pulse Rifles, the M56s that Drake and Vasquez used, and, for further oddity, the M42A rifles.

The M42As, funny enough, only hold 15 rounds in a similar footprint as the M41As (IE, the Pulse Rifles), where-as the M56s have the supposed same 500 round drum as the turrets.

I'm not trying to do anything here other than talk about the funny nature of realism in the Aliens franchise when it comes to their weapons...and this is coming from a fan that has pretty much read every tidbit of lore and story for the franchise.

As for your reasoning that a sequel did not come out right away just because one was teased shows a diconnect with reality. You might remember a game called Half-Life 2.

Using Valve development as a basis for personal attack? Ok.

I never would have finished it if I hadn't installed the mod that turned the Alien into a puppy and the revolver into a one-shot hand cannon.
