I am sure you have seen alcohol in plastic. Boxed wine, mouthwash, first aid kit bottles, cheap stuff like malt liquor, little mini bottles, “shatter proof” containers, etc

You don't drink mouthwash, I hope!

When I run out of vodka, I do.

Fallout 76 is probably the biggest failure of 2018, literally.

Hard to argue against this. It has certainly sounded like a total shit fest from start to finish.

Your experience and personal preference does not change the fact that the majority of alcohol (by volume) sold in the USA either contacts plastic during manufacturing, is sold in plastic containers or is put into aluminum cans that are lined with plastic (bpa packed i might add). And it has been that way for years.

I can't speak for the rest of the wor!d, but I bet if you took a tour of your local distillery, winery or brewery you'd be amazed at the amount of product in contact with plastic.

You either just hopped out of a time machine from the early 2000s, live in some archaic backwood that time forgot, or don’t know what you are talking about sir!

Good wines have been sold in boxes and even *gasp* glass bottles with screw tops for many years now. Otherwise yeah it’s either going to be in an environment where shatter proof is desired or garbage.

Those boxes you mean are interior coated with aluminum... just saying They also have an absolutely HORRIFIC recycling rate (of 23%) which is why these packs are not actually good for anything (except wine and milk). Heck I even bought those packs, for cooking wine and milk there is nothing better really. But the wine/milk does not sit in plastic.

Really when it comes down to it the ONLY place where I ever seen alcohol in plastic (as in touching plastic) is in airport duty free stores. But that's irrelevant to me. I hate flying and would never drink anything to make that experience worse ,p)

I can actually taste the plastic even in water cookers and even in those long-term heat contain containers ~.+

same here (eu). Not seen stronger than beer alcohol sold in plastic *except* the odd time in various airport duty frees. We actually laughed at the shitness of alcohol being sold in plastic bottles.

even alcopops are sold in glass bottles.

Only stuff I see sold in plastic regularly are miniatures in gift boxes (or onboard aircraft) and cheap supermarket cider or weak beer.

Wine in boxes are only sold to the brits going back on a ferry. No local would drink that shite.

Well no, but I mean they still store it in plastic and you put it in your mouth :p

Really the only one of those things I would drink is the boxed wine. There is some pretty solid boxed wine and has been for years. It isn't always trash anymore. The rest of that is either trash, not for human consumption, or both.

Most alcohol comes in plastic last time I checked, especially the smaller sizes and big big large huge litres of poison.
This is actually a normal glass bottle with a plastic toy cover, and it's bargain priced.
what a joke

I have never in my entire life seen alcohol in a plastic bottle

And this is why

Smirnoff Vodka sells them in plastic bottles. I'd never drink that stuff.

Heh yeah, not in Germany. https://www.amazon.de/Smirnoff-Red-No-Premium-Vodka/dp/B002VQ062I

I am not kidding when I say that I have never ever seen any high % alcohol in plastic anything here. Maybe sometimes cheap wine for cooking in tetra packs, but even those ain't plastic inside. And with the push to remove plastic entirely from the stores I doubt that will ever change

This is kinda hilarious though. I mean, $80 and they couldn't spring for glass? Someone up there is being a real cheapskate in regards to this glorified fallout 4 mod.

You have to dig in the article a bit to figure it out, but the bottle is glass with a plastic outer shell molded to look like the fictional beverage container. I'm not familiar with the economics involved with custom-making glass bottles at whatever scale they were dealing in, so I can't judge exactly how cheap they're being. But it's not like the stuff was delivered in a standard 20oz soda bottle or anything.

One tweet says it's plastic over glass. Everyone else says that the bottle feels so light that they doubt that it's glass.

That tweet from another games journo is linking the actual source of the story, a YouTuber who put together a summary of the whole thing including multiple other clips that show the product both in promo footage from Bethesda and home video from actual buyers... It's a glass bottle with a plastic Nuka shell: https://youtu.be/rRYt6EkPJhE?t=374

Though with how many times he uses the phrase "potentially lucrative" in describing the thing, I have to chuckle because it makes it sound like a bunch of scalper fucks are the ones who are upset that they ordered loads of this Fallout rum which turned out to be so crappy nobody wants any!

hahahaha

You ain't never been to the America's then. Son, I was buying vodka in 1.75L plastic containers in the 80's. Yesterday i bought a pint of two dogs whiskey for my workers who were building a box to install a water heater outside in the snow. Also all of the little airplane shot bottles are plastic. Do you think someone that pours a known deadly carcinogen into their gob that's also pure poison gives a rats ass about the container.

Maybe in Los Estados Unidos where people drink horse piss like Bud Light and don't seem to give a fuck about health or good taste or the environment but here in central EU where the eRe4s3r dude and I are coming from, nope... the vast, vast, vast majority of alcoholic beverages is sold in glass bottles over here.

And with the huge problems of plastic garbage polluting the oceans etc. there are major campaigns to reduce plastic in packaging here in "socialist hippie EU" so it's definitely not going to change. Booze will stay in bottles or tin cans for sure.

I honestly can't even think of a single alcoholic beverage that is sold in a plastic bottle around here.... *think*... *think*... *think*... nope, seriously, drawing a blank.

IF there is booze in plastic at all then maybe some of those sugar sweet mixed drinks for the underage girlies but no sane (male) person would drink that shit in the first place. It's not even real booze.

And I agree with Mr. eRe4s3r re the PCB. Booze in plastic bottles, especially hard booze like rum, gotta be carcinogenic as fuck.
