Your initial insult to him applies broadly to people you care about. Insult his design ability, not his coding ability, otherwise it looks more like you don't understand job functions in the industry than it looks like you're making a sick burn.
I guess we'll have to look at this announcement and see if he's just a "Game Designer". I'm sorry, but people that make indie games have to wear several hats. It makes no sense that he would announce a game and not be an active coder on it unless it's something someone else developed and is just using his notoriety to get publicity.
And I do understand job functions in the industry. I've been doing them for almost 20 years.
Then it's still odd for you to crap on game designers for not being particularly strong coders. You know that about 10% of any studio are strong coders. The rest are level designers, character artists, etc. With a modern engine like Unreal, those people don't need to be strong coders. Many don't know at all. The people doing your textures, your cutscenes, your particles, your character rigging, your motion capture, your UI design, etc., don't need to do much coding, if any at all.
Incredible code isn't what makes games anymore. Lumberjack, Unreal, Unity, etc., can do so much out of the box that your creatives don't need to make tweaks, and it's harder finding a guy who can come up with a great idea and put it together into a very fun game than find someone that can code well.
