Out of the Blue

Happy December! This year I finally followed through on my plan on growing a Movember mustache. I actually had a pretty good growth going at the end of October, but shaved it clean for a Halloween costume, so this was a pure November project. I went for the full sinister biker/convict look, so I'm not sure MrsBlue will be upset that it's going, but if she misses it, I've preserved photographic evidence for her to pine over. I don't know how much I've aided men's health along the way, but I'm pretty sure this will at least serve as a cautionary tale to promote better grooming.

Just sold my Rift to a friend for $230. While I loved it, my system just couldn't do it justice, especially when things got hectic. Maybe down the road a bit when they get higher-res optics and get rid of the 'screen-door' effect/blurriness and I have a better system to run it on (as opposed to my current Core i5/750, 20gb DDR3/1600 and 1050ti/4gb), I'll pick one up again and have a better experience
my system is a lot weaker than yours, as I'm still rocking my GTX 670.

That said, I have a 2070 RTX incoming, but I was still surprised as hell at how well the old 670 handled VR.
Your 670 is near identical to his 1050ti.

Someone posted better hierarchy charts a while back but I don't have time to search for it.

What cpu are you pairing the 2070 with and what do you currently have? If you can't guess, I got the new system itch in my loins.

Huh, 4 generations older, and the 670 is equivalent to a 10 series mid-range card. No wonder I never felt the need to upgrade.

As we discussed here a few months ago, I'm trying a graphics card upgrade in my current system before I overhaul the whole thing (per your recommendation, IIRC). Here's what I have:

Intel 3570K Core i5 @3.6 GHz
Gigabyte Windforce GTX 670 2GB
8 GB 1866Hz DDR3 RAM

I remember, the 3570 rocks.
There'll be plenty of cpu choices when you're ready to pull the trigger.

I had rocked a goatee for decades until last Movember. Then I went full on beard. Not a Billy Gibbons or hipster beard, just a nice, face covering pelt.

I should have done that long ago. The amount of time spent not shaving is fantastic and only on every other Sunday is it shorn for tidiness.

IMO, VR is still in it's beta stage. Really, it reminds me of the early days of cd-roms, 3D accelerators and consoles. Before the polish. They need to bring the cost of entry down as well. That alone would boost the VR industry into it's next evolutionary stage, me thinks. *shrugs*

=-Rigs-=

I picked up a Samsung Odyssey last week (also currently $329 with controllers), and my system is a lot weaker than yours, as I'm still rocking my GTX 670. As long as I tweak the settings, Elite Dangerous, Overload, and Project Cars are smooth as butter. And it has 30% more resolution than the Rift. I would think your system would handle most VR games just fine.

That said, I have a 2070 RTX incoming, but I was still surprised as hell at how well the old 670 handled VR.

From what i can tell the mic is normally $130 by itself.

Mic usually sells for around $110 by itself. Good deal.
