the hit for RTX makes the feature almost unusable except for single player and screenshots. The difference between off and on is nearly equivalent to 1080p vs 4k.

BTW, what's this $15 talk? Is that some battlefield insider pricing or some shit?

The $15 thing is probably people subscribing for a month to Origin Premier. It's normally $20 per month but I think there was a promo. It includes early access to games like BF:V and some content exclusive to things like digital deluxe editions. If you sub to Premier then buy the Standard Edition of the game you get to keep the preorder bonuses so its like a cheaper version of the Digital Deluxe SKU. I don't think the subscription is worth it personally but if you just want to try it out for a month then it's not a bad option. The basic version is much cheaper but has no early access.

EA only ships 1-2 big PC games a year and looks to be doing even fewer moving forward so if you do subscribe, make sure to cancel it when you're done with BF:V.

The is the closest BF has felt to Call of Duty for me so far.

Despite all the new tactical and squad play elements, the ridiculous low Time To Kill sorta nullifies them all.

Its fun, but it feels the least like a BF game of all the BF games out.

Battlefield V sucks, it doesn’t offer the incredible single payer experience of COD BO IIII. War stories are boring and not even in English because EA is trying to appease the migrant mob. The game only gets 48 FPS at 4k with ultra-settings and raytracing set to ultra,on a $1400 2080ti, making it broken and unplayable. It also features the worst graphics in the series since BF 1942. Worst game ever, or so I read......

This post is a joke.

No, I mean it's literally a joke. Or so I read. ..

The jump to 4K makes little difference, other than needing less AA. But everything else still looks the same.
That one was fun. No amount of AA will make anything look even nearly 4K, not even 1440p-like. 1080p looks blurry AF after going 1440p/4K.

This is what I meant.

I know what raytracing is, I know its computing cost. It's just I'd rather play in 4K with a 1080ti which costs less than half the money, than spending 1400$ just for 1080/60 with cute reflections.

It's too early for this tech.

Almost nobody has RTX cards yet. I'm sure it's optimized to look and run great without it. Frostbite is one of the better-optimized engines out there.

from what i understand, the raytracing only makes reflective surfaces reflect the environment better than standard, non-raytraced reflective surfaces. and that's all it does in this game, no additional post processing, no fancy reshade-like improvements. is this true? cause if that's the case, i'm good thanks.

Or maybe for, you know, authenticity's sake? Seeing as it mostly took place in Europe where people, you know, speak languages other than English. And mobs of migrants are mobs because they have no money, especially for, you know, video games.

But it's a new game... with new graphical features... with new hardware and drivers...

I want everything to be perfect at all times, especially the beginning, but hey that's not how shit works.

Guess you didn't even look for it. It runs terrible. Stable 1080/60 on the 2080ti only terrible.

Are you insane? Since when is 1080/60 terrible? The visual difference from ray tracing is pretty spectacular despite only a few effects of ray tracing are being used. And it's only going to get better real quick. Also, given it's ray tracing (which you obviously don't understand at all) it's almost a miracle that it runs at anything faster than a powerpoint slideshow anyway. A slide show is pretty much what it would be by doing ray tracing purely in compute on previous architectures without dedicated scene traversal acceleration and deep learning. Forget about using the CPU for ray tracing. Want to render one frame? That'll be several hours...

Also, just because you're not running at 4K doesn't mean suddenly we're back in the days of CGA. 4K is not the be-all end-all solution for graphics. The jump to 4K makes little difference, other than needing less AA. But everything else still looks the same.

For a website that is pretty hardcore PC, it's amazing the number of people that are so technology illiterate.

I really loathed it after the beta, but for $15 it's been quite fun. A little frustrating, and quite buggy (basically an early access game, wtf?) but I enjoy it far more than BF1.

Did the $15 also. Definitely worth that price. But yeah, wtf is up with the terrain and clipping it? I go prone and my character slides around fairly frequently. Feels like something pushing my character. I've only had one crash and one game-stopping bug (map couldn't end), but otherwise been running fairly well. I did lower my settings a bit to get FPS up. I'm on a 1080ti ultrawide. Still looks great, though. Just wish I could live a tad longer.
