Out of the Blue

Today is the observation of Veteran's Day here in the U.S. Here's a salute to vets and their families, and a sincere hope that we are working towards a day when the sacrifices of soldiers will be a thing of the past.

The story of the wildfires in California continue to be startlingly dire, with reports of record casualties and smoke spreading across the country as the fires continue to rage. The most striking illustration to me of how severe this is comes from Facebook of all places. I am startled to see just how many friends are marking their status on the service. This shows just how many people are affected by this, though obviously the good news in these instances is that these folks are listing themselves as safe. But in that vein, there are lots of people missing, and we can only hope it turns out they evacuated, and will not become additions to the death toll.

Is someone really bitching about Stan Lee's tiny cameos ruining the masterpieces that are comic book movies?
Do you have a single fact to back that up?

Regardless of any of that he was egomaniac IMO. Every time that asshole showed up in every Marvel film it was just such fourth wall breaking bullshit that pissed me off to no end. Who the fuck does that?

The sand thing has been going on for ages. Saw a documentary on it and that was about 2 years ago. Florida has been importing tons of nice sand for their beaches for ages now - as opposed to the crappy local sand I guess. It is, by all accounts, a lucrative business. Who knows one day we may not be able to tell people to go pound sand or ask if they have sand in their vag. Hell, we may run out of sandwiches! Except in the desert because of the sand which is there.

Speaking of movies finally got around to watching Rush last night. Really excellent flick if you haven't seen it. Read an interview with Niki Lauder who said the actors really nailed him and James Hunt.

*meh* Depends on how much the guy is actually deluded and thinks of it as a real marriage and how much he is just doing in order to get his 15 minutes of fame.

Kondo's path to Miku came after difficult encounters with women as an anime-mad teenager.

Kondo sleeps alongside a doll version of Miku, complete with a wedding ring

So, was this guy able to consummate his 'wedding' with the holographic love of his life?

Did he use the doll for this?

Is it machine washable?

Are these questions that probably shouldn't ever need to be asked or answered?

I doubt anyone has answers to these questions (except for the last one) but to me this whole "story" is more sad than funny
