Blizzard "Working on Different Diablo Projects"

Blizzard outlines their BlizzCon 2018 plans for Diablo, saying they will not be showing everything they're doing with their action/RPG franchise, revealing they "currently have multiple teams working on different Diablo projects." They say they won't be announcing everything, but say they will be sharing some sort of news about the series:
BlizzCon 2018 is almost here and we’ve seen a lot of rumors flying around about our plans for Diablo at the show. These are very exciting times—we currently have multiple teams working on different Diablo projects and we can’t wait to tell you all about them . . . when the time is right.

We know what many of you are hoping for and we can only say that “good things come to those who wait,” but evil things often take longer. We appreciate your patience as our teams work tirelessly to create nightmarish experiences worthy of the Lord of Terror.

While we won’t be ready to announce all of our projects, we do intend to share some Diablo-related news with you at the show.

November 2 will be an especially diabolical date—not only is it the first day of BlizzCon, it’s also when Diablo III arrives on the Nintendo Switch. If you’re planning to pick up the game (the digital download will be available starting at midnight on launch day) and are joining us in Anaheim, be sure to bring your console. We’d love to slay some demons with you on the show floor.

Again, we want to thank you for your patience and support. We are eternally grateful to you and the millions of other Diablo fans around the world whose passion for this franchise inspires us and keeps our fires burning.

We’ll see you in hell . . . and at BlizzCon!

Could it be a Diablo MMO? It's not like it would be geared entirely towards a mature audience. Diablo 3 did have a lot of color in it. If they actually darkened it up a bit to differentiate it from WoW a lot more, I think it would have some appeal.

All I really am looking forward to is a remaster of Diablo 2. Diablo 1 is OK for nostalgia purpose but let's be real, the dungeons aren't all that appealing. At least 2 had the different zones that were uniquely different and felt different.

That's the sequel. First they have to release Diablo: Click Hard.

The Diablo hypetrain has gotten a bit out of control around the Internet - speculation is rampant and ridiculous. There is a growing divide forming in the fanbase, and it's hilarious. D1 remake vs D2 Remake vs D4 etc. It's good Blizzard posted this to curb expectations a little bit for Blizzcon.

Oh yes, they really came out and put a stop to that. Not at all feeding it for their own good in a way so clichéd you can find parodies of such things, including in old games.

I don't trust Blizzard enough to provide a faithful remaster of Diablo 1 and especially 2. They'd start with good intentions by bringing it up to date in terms of fidelity but then one concession after another and all the sudden we end up with an extension of Diablo 3 with locked down trading, re-balancing, turfed b.net lobby, Kadala and so on.

DIABLO ROYALE

I see that you have access to the same sources as me. I also have info via leaks that the lineup is going to include:

- Diablo Click2Win
- Diablo Royale
- Diablo Lootbox Heaven
- Diablo Lootbox Auction
- Diablo Lootbox Galore
- Diablo Auction House Reloaded
- Diablo Clickharder

As much fun as this sounds, with some EU countries (like mine) outlawing lootboxes for money, and working on a law for the whole of the EU, I would not bet too much on such games anymore but who knows.

From my older post...:

Here are some ideas where Blizzard can expand on the universe:

Deckard Cain: "Riders of the Lost Soul Stone"

Deckard Cain & Covetous Shen: "Adventures of Old"

Adria & 9 Circles of Hell

"King Leoric's Mines"

"Tal-Rasha's Tomb & the Sands of Time"

And my absolute favorite: Leah's "Scribes Gone Wild" Beatnik

Besides the obvious D4 or D1/2 remakes I really would love to see Blizz make a FPP CO-OP dungeon crawler using what they've learned with the Overwatch engine.

Multiple classes, xmogs, lotsa loot, drop-in co-op. There really aren't many games in that genre, and if they make a AAA title it'd be king.

Some may say go play WoW, but that is a traditional 3rd person MMO with dungeon/raid mechanics/cooldowns. I'm talking more of a Heretic/Hexen/Skyrim vibe but co-op.

That would be awesome and it sounds sort of like what Hellgate: London promised to be. I'd be down for them taking the Diablo universe into another direction like that.

A D1/D2 remaster would be a fun nostalgia trip but that's about it. I'd probably play it though. I'm mostly interested in D4 but I don't see that happening until they can figure out how to include microtransactions without pissing off the fanbase. I'd bet they're working on a mobile game or something.
