theverge pulled the video
Editor’s note: An earlier version of this article included a video guide detailing similar steps on how to build a PC. Unfortunately, that video included a number of errors in the build process, and as a result we have removed it from this article. We have also updated this article to improve the order of the steps in the process.

To be fair, I often forget to put on the thermal paste in PC Building Simulator.

Eh, depending on if you want to overclock or not. If you're planning to OC by 20%, you'll want to put some Arctic Silver on there. If you're just gonna run stock, then the regular paste is fine (For the Ryzen processors, they actually put some decent stuff on there. Don't trust anything Intel gives you. Intel deliberately puts birdshit TIM in their processors to save themselves 10 cents per die, so trusting their thermal paste seems risky.)

Rgardless, if you are using 3rd party paste, scrape the factory stuff off. This is not a more is better situation.

Let me put it this way, the difference between the top performing thermal paste and toothpaste is less than 10C. You may get a degree or two out of a high end paste, but seating your cooler correctly, having proper air flow in your case, or just turning down your A/C will give you better results.

There's honestly a billion instances of white guys screwing shit like this up, but for some reason, Cutter, you never say "this is what happens when you care more about hiring white people!"

Whenever a female or a minority fucks up, though, there you are, saying something gross. Like clockwork.

I always wondered about those powersupply pads. Speechless

He says they are to insulate the power supply to prevent a short circuit and then the next thing he does is screw the PSU directly to the back of the case. Laugh Laugh Laugh BACKWARDS! I mean....damn. Can I get $2k from Capital One to do this right?
