To everyone: Make sure you go into "Manage Cookies" and make sure that all the crap that's turned "on" is something you're willing to live with. There's a lot of pretty shady shit in there, including giving them the authority to harvest all cookies from your PC for their own purposes.

Now here we are in the middle of September in America
Yeah, I didn't know that was coming, but it is from our ad provider, and is just another cookie consent. I've lost track of who requires these things, I feel like I get then on half the pages I visit these days.
Sorry for the inconvenience, but there should be no reason for alarm.

Hey Blue,
I've got this popup banner thing on every page today:
https://i.imgur.com/LQeOFbo.png
It's from network-n.com is that something you use? It shows up even if I block ads so I don't think it's coming from one of those.
I don't want to click anything on it until I know it's expected/intentional.
I got the same popup on android

Users in Europe may, or rather should, encounter a request to approve our cookie usage here at some point today. This to maintain compliance with that whole GDPR dealie, and it's handled geographically, so this shouldn't impact users outside the EU at all. Nothing's changed about how cookies are handled here, and the opt-in request has links that can explain this in detail. This should be a one-timer, and hopefully will not represent too much of an inconvenience to those who receive it, so any patience with this would be appreciated. And a hearty thanks to Frans for working through the technical details of getting this running

Uh there's a little more to it than that, guy. While cats are good companions - according to cat people - they also play a vital role in keeping pest populations in check. A huge part of the Black Plague can be attributed to the fact that the superstition against cats and the killing of them led to an explosion in the rodent population - namely rats - resulting in the death of an estimated 75 to 200 million people. Egypt, on the other hand, cat lovers that they are, never had a plague. Except for raining frogs because god is really mean to them apparently.
Dogs, besides companionship fulfill all manner of roles in all manner of work and protection. Whilst cows and pigs could play companion to some extent, they're not really good for much else except in the food and clothing department. So, there are some key differences in animals and their roles with humans. It's not just picking on cows and pigs.
