Star Wars: The Old Republic Roadmap

There's a new roadmap on the Star Wars: The Old Republic Website outlining the future of the Force-powered MMORPG. This is called a Fall 2018 roadmap, and it includes details on PvP updates, the next phase of the game's Jedi storyline, gameplay and quality of life improvements, and more about the present and near-future of the game. But they also look beyond, offering an outlook on what to expect in the coming year:
As we roll into the new year, we have a ton of exciting adventures planned for you and your friends. We’re not ready to discuss the details yet, but you can be sure the conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire is going to explode into full-scale war that will draw your character into battle on new planets, where they’ll fight alongside (and against!) many new and returning fan-favorite characters!

I played this as a free player and when I topped out at level 60, seemed like no more story content I gave up. Just recently went back and the clan I was in kicked me out for being gone so long. I don't blame them. I never did tell them I wasn't coming back. Then again I never asked to join. The clan ignored me anyway. Since I was a freebie player and maybe they knew I wouldn't be around long. Still it was rather rude. Still can't remember the name of the clan either. It was something cliche like Jedi Force or some crap. Anyway I did like the game and the story. Revan was a cheating bastard. Some how lucked out by logging out during the first battle. The bastard could regen fast. I logged back in the next day and the game bypassed the battle to the end. Was fine with me. Up to that point that was one of the biggest cheating boss fights I've ever seen. F2P is rather difficult. I refuse to give them money though. That's why they make it hard on F2P players, so they will break down and pay for better gear and a bank account. Thanks devs my 200,000 is all I really need though.

Yeah, what he said. The single player part of the game is on point, particularly during the leveling process where you can easily be getting bonus XP while doing only the "main quests". Not having to grind just to level progress is a huge factor in being able to enjoy the storylines.

I will admit one thing though....playing F2P has to be frustrating. I tell anyone who thinks about playing to consider going in for at least one month on the sub. Make a decision after that. Playing F2P on this game makes it feel more like a demo than a game and you run into multiple paywalls for basic quality of life type things....like how many skill bars your UI has for example.

They've made a lot of solo-friendly tweeks since the early days. Even Flashpoints have a solo mode, and every companion can be a tank, dps or healer which you switch on the fly.

I jump in every once in a while just for the story, pretty much.

Despite it's flaws, I love to play this game every now and again and thus have kept a 6 month sub going since forever. Over time I have gained control of a guild for each faction, both with capitol ships etc. It's rather hilarious seeing as me and my 20 something alts are the only members..but whatever. If there had been a decent fucking single-player Star Wars game of any kind released in the last 3 years I might have quit as sometimes I think I only play to satisfy my irrational addiction to Star Wars anything. Had there been other alternatives, specifically single player games on PC alternatives, I could satisfy that need.

Bioware keeps adding content fast enough to keep me entertained and I just admitted to how much I have spent on subscriptions so I won't do any bitching about SWTOR itself.

how's it play solo? i've considered firing it back up just to play through the story content but i remember being underwhelmed by the MMO gameplay at launch, but nothing else about the mechanics. is the PvE tedious for someone just trying to run through the story without other people?

The game basically went back to the subscription model after the first two expansions right? I can't see any way to buy the eternal throne content as a one time deal.

I'd like to hop back in for a bit, but man the F2P model is pretty restrictive and I don't really want to put up a monthly fee.

That pretty much sums up the F2P model.

Do you have a single fact to back that up?

Amazing this game is still going.

Right? Especially after all the fallout we heard surrounding the huge server merges. Figured that was going to be a fast track to the chopping block but here we are with more content in the pipe.

It's actually fun to get back in to from time to time if only for the stories but it's not something I would actively subscribe to for more than a month.
