Battlefield V Delayed

Battlefield V is now expected on November 20th instead of the previously planned October release window that chased the release of Anthem into next year. EA announces the delay along with word on what this will do to their bottom line. There's more on the delay and next week's beta testing of the military shooter on the EA Website:
Today, we’re announcing that Battlefield V will have a new launch date – November 20, 2018. I wanted to give you a little bit of insight into how we arrived at this new date.

Over the summer, we’ve had tens of thousands of players get their hands on the game during our Closed Alphas and at E3 and Gamescom – where we were honored to receive the awards for Best Multiplayer Game at both shows.

You have told us that you are seeing an increased focus on squad play come through, you are also feeling the difference in our revamped player movement and we are getting a lot of positive feedback for our improved weapons handling.

You’ve also spurred us to make some meaningful improvements to the core gameplay experience, including adjusting the gameplay tempo, improving soldier visibility and reducing player friction. You’ll see a lot of these reflected in our Open Beta that starts on September 6.

We believe we have one of the best Battlefield games ever on our hands. A game that will deliver on an emotional journey through the return of unseen single player War Stories, a deep multiplayer experience, Battle Royale, along with our new live service, Tides of War - a journey across multiple theaters of WW2 and designed to keep our community together.

With the Open Beta just around the corner, we are excited about the millions of you who will join us and experience the game. And we fully expect to see even more feedback coming our way.

And that’s why we’re moving our launch date. We’re going to take the time to continue to make some final adjustments to core gameplay, and to ensure we really deliver on the potential of Tides of War.

We know moving the launch date means that we all have to wait a little longer. But we’re going to take our time to make sure we get it right.

Thank you for your continued passion and support. We can’t wait to see you on the battlefield in just a few days.

Probably a good thing.

As far as the gameplay balance stuff, I found out they are giving all factions access to the same weapons which I don't get. They should give each faction access to their own weapons. If only the game were moddable then there would be an FH3 to remove silly stuff like holo sights on StG44's.

The all factions weapons access has been a BF thing for a looong time. It brings the balance down to the class rather than the faction.

What is your secret to seeing into the future?

Because it's too similar to BF1 and that (POS) wasn't exactly a raging success. Think there's was like one mode and two servers with enough players in OCE.

Maybe the BR mode can save them.

I was not planning to buy this game anyways.
So far what I have seen RTX ON or OFF was very underwhelming.
I might check out the open beta if it will be offered for longer than it takes to download it, but I doubt it will change my mind.

Pretty sure preload starts Sep 3rd if that helps.

What is your secret to seeing into the future?

They were trying to push a bunch of features and content after release championing the decision by calling the game a "live service". Even their own game changers youtube shills called them out on their B.S. saying things like don't expect a finished game ever again going forward.

Just off the top of my head things that were being pushed till after release, vehicle customization, co-op maps, ability to drag wounded players, battle royale mode, mortars. Probably some other stuff.

Even all that doesn't really mater, DICE screwed up because they announced they were making a WWII Battlefield game and people painted a mental picture of BF1942 with better graphics and modern gameplay in their head. What they ended up making is a completely wishy-washy WWII experience. The map in the alpha was just so-so, after a short time playing it the repetitive nature of the gameplay crept in. The game just doesn't capture the open sandbox feel of what Battlefield used to be about, you could play maps in Battlefield 2 for hundreds of hours and have different experiences playing on them.

I don't think extra development time is going to help much, just give it a little more spit polish but the core game is set in stone and it's another three to six month wonder at best.

That's good, would rather it get more polish and balance. Feedback from Gamescom has been good but the real test will be open beta next week.

This also most certainly means there will be at least one more week of beta as well before the new launch week.
