While I do think that Joaquin could end up being a great Joker (moreso than Jared Leto), the Joker really doesn't need an origin story at all.

This is my issue. I have nothing against Joaquin, but who has been clamoring for a Joker movie?

I'm not seeing Joaquin as Joker, but then again I couldn't see Heath Ledger as Joker either until I saw the movie and was blown away by the job he did. Honestly though when I think Joker I think of the Arkham Knight game series - the graphic depiction coupled with Mark Hamill's brilliant voice acting was the epitome of perfection.

I'm mostly through Arkham Knight now (I think one more story mission left.) Man, The Joker is fantastic in this game. I think way, way better than in City. This may be my favorite Joker. So many great little details.

I love the game, too. Except the Riddler stuff, which I'm ignoring, and the AR/Challenge stuff, which I'm ignoring. Both are simply too overwhelming - too many Riddler things hidden around, too many challenges to get stars in. I'll never do it all, and I don't like ending the game frustrated (as in, I have 30 minutes to play and end due to time not due to finishing something and reaching a natural stopping point.) But those are easily ignored and not needed, so whoever wants them can do them. As for the rest of the game, love it.

My only real complaint is too little Predator Mode stuff. In the first, you basically went from room to room in predator mode. In this, not so much. The Two-Face missions had some great predator mode stuff, as do the Occupy Gotham and the too-short Mr. Freeze DLC, but I wanted more. More!

While there have been a few comic writers and directors who have told or hinted at Joker's origins, my favorite versions of the character are the ones where his past is shrouded in mysterious, almost-mythic-like or screwed-up lies (usually told by him). Wondering what the hell happened to him in his past that would cause him to be so fucked up is what makes him great.

He's always been one of those hit or miss actors for me. Gladiator? Ick. Walk the Line? Brilliant. etc. So we'll see. The major problem with it is if it's an origin film he should be a lot younger, like late 20s. Joaquin can't pull that off.

As an actor that can play vulnerable, satanical, volatile, and sarcastic... I think he's a great pick for a story arch that falls into one of DC's best villains.
Gotta agree, after watching him in "You Were Never Really Here", the joker will be a cinch.

There's a fool-proof way to tell if something a conservative/right-wing/Republican said is true or not. If they call it "fake news", you can be sure it's the solid truth.
