Starfield Announced

Bethesda officially announces Starfield with a teaser trailer that's mostly teaser. This shows a space station for this game rumored to be The Elder Scrolls in space. The clip teases starfield.bethesda.net, but there's nothing there yet, so all we have to go on for now is the two-sentence description: "Discover Starfield, the new space epic currently in development by Bethesda Game Studios. Starfield is the first new franchise in twenty-five years from the acclaimed developers of The Elder Scrolls and Fallout series."

This E3 was 99% disappointment and 1% ecstasy. This really might be the right time to give up gaming and maybe come back in 3 years.

Cyberpunk 2077 Trailer - The only thing that excited me this E3. Not that this a popularity contest, but the views on this video compared to F76 and the Starfield Teaser are twice as much.

The music in this trailer is very Star-Trekian, especially reminiscent of James Horner's Wrath of Khan soundtrack. If it's a Skyrim-style RPG, I'd much prefer it to be Star Trek over Star Wars.

meaning what exactly? you'd prefer to be the captain of a navy ship over a jedi or some such? or referring to societal differences? trek was always kinda too barfily perfect for me.

Just meaning that the stories in ST tend toward the more intellectual, whereas SW tends to be more action oriented. Also, the world of ST is closer to hard science than SW with its laser swords, force powers, and non Newtonian physics.

SW at its best was a deep philosophical exploration of heroism and courage, though not the case anymore. i tend to agree though - i'd prefer a more science based game, just without trek's perfect human society.

A setting similar to Babylon 5 would be perfect for this, it's like the middle ground between sterile ST and fantasy SW and hopefully with a good narrative like the show and not a lackluster ending like the cheap copy Mass Effect.

DeepShadows tried to do an open world SF RPG FPS long ago, it's called "The Precursors" and worth the money, although it's kind of unfinished...

As long as you ignore Jar Jar Abrams movies and the Star Trek Discovery abomination.

If you were disappointed in what Microsoft and especially Bethesda showed off, then you need to just get out of gaming. It's no longer your thing. In reality though, so far, things are looking pretty epic.

He said, with about 75% of press conferences and 100% of the 3-day convention yet to take place...

... which means 75% more lies and 100% more reveals of casual crap and garbage and monetization schemes poorly hidden behind game interfaces... but mostly garbage, garbage and GARRRRRRRBITCH!!!11

Funny I see a major company with over 10 major projects they are working on and there has to be products in there that check your boxes. Or you are outgrowing gaming.
