DOOM Eternal Announced

Bethesda's "BE3" pre-E3 show tonight included announcement DOOM Eternal, an upcoming sequel to DOOM (2016) in the works at id Software. They don't yet offer a release date, and it doesn't sound like we'll see that much of it during the show, as the official E3 teaser trailer is all cinematics, and it promises a livestream gameplay reveal on August 10th from QuakeCon. Here's more on the game from the description of the clip:

Which is perfectly fine, and in fact, exactly what they should do. Doom 2016 was amazing, and more-or-less universally loved (campaign anyway, screw that awful multiplayer). It's not something they should mess with too much.

They only issue I had in the previous game was that too much of your character progression was tied to finding secrets and hidden powerups. I'm definitely not saying they should get rid of the secrets, but finding them shouldn't be necessary for character advancement. In any case, I'd file this as a minor negative.

I just wished there had been an option to replay the whole game with those unlocks unlocked, and to continue finding/unlocking what you missed. You could replay levels individually, but not save in the middle. Given that some levels were like 2.5 hours, that meant powering through the entire level or just playing the first part of it repeatedly.
