EA Announces Origin Access Premiere

EA announces Origin Access Premiere, a subscription service providing access to all their PC games that will launch later this summer. This will allow entry into their "vault" of previous games as well as all their upcoming PC games, apparently earlier than their launches through other channels. They say this will begin with Madden NFL 19, which marks the return of the series to PCs for the first time in a decade. They celebrate the news by offering a free trial of their current Origin Access and this trailer. Word is:
Origin Access Premier is a new tier of our PC gaming membership that gets you new games like Battlefield V, FIFA 19, Madden NFL 19, and Anthem before launch. No trial, no waiting, just play.

Plus, dive into over 100 PC titles whenever you want, as long as you're a Premier member – that means great EA games and titles from our partners like Batman: Arkham Asylum, INSIDE, The Witness, and more. Then save 10% on other Origin digital purchases like Ultimate Team content.

Origin Access Premier arrives on PC this summer. Find out more at http://x.ea.com/47314

I gotta assume you can't pay $15 for a single month and get access to Anthem/Others Pre-launch... Though I guess they're still getting $15 to demo a game that way. If I'm on the fence and don't want to throw out the full $60, maybe I'll look into it around that time. Though now I wonder if the early access is pre-launch access (the usual 3 days BS) or beta access.

And I wonder how long until the newer games are then available at the $5/mo rate...

Yeah I'd try bundling a couple/few games together like this to make it a potential no-brainer decision. $15/mo that's the ole MMO cost and this seems like much more the value and that wasn't even bad if you played a lot, which a lot of us did then.

Was I talking to you dickhead?

Ah just so you know you are talking to a public audience. Now I'll go ahead a read the rest of whatever you got...

Ok back...

You started ok with mentioning one is rent the other own, different people, different decisions, yep I agree. No one is right and no one wrong in my book. Use your head and decide what fits for you. Oh but there yah go off the deep ass end, now anyone who decides to rent is a commie and being consumer raped, ruining it for the world one rental at a time. Yeah that's a stable conclusion. Everyone wants personal freedoms for all, sounds noble, some then want to tell others what those freedoms will be, can't see their train of thought for what it is.

I'm not sure Steve thought he would own the game forever for $15 using Access Premiere. Maybe he did though. Then I reread what I said, man you are uptight to think that was a hard attack on you, worst case we got some wires crossed up. Oh well... batter up.

It's $15/mo or $100/yr compared to $5/mo or $30/yr for the current sub. Not sure why they make you dig around the website to find that basic info..

Agreed on the ridiculousness of finding the price on their site...

so if you get Anthem & BF V with it , seems like a no brainer for less than those 2 games alone.

Except you lose access to the games if you cancel your subscription at any point. Just like Xbox Live Gold and PlayStation Plus services. So its not worth it at all.

This is the way its moving. You will no longer own access to any games, you'll simply subscribe to a service to play games like Netflix has done for TV.

Ah I think we get that. Right we won't be owning the games. But then again I can play and end many games within that monthly fee and save a ton. Most games I don't go back to. Or look at it another way it's a traditional MMO cost, but you get their entire catalog during that time. Not sure why I'm even explaining the obvious, you got me.

Was I talking to you dickhead? Steve's post seemed to imply he thought you got those two games for less than you would buying them separately. If he knew you were effectively renting them, then of course they'd be cheaper!

Some of us prefer ownership. I revisit games I've played years ago all the time and would hate a subscription service where I'm just paying to temporarily play a couple of games from their library which I will lose access to when I unsubscribe.

Call me a commie, but that sort of consumer rape disgusts me. Not sure why I need to explain the obvious.

PS: Good luck when they inevitably remove games from their catalog which you will never be able to play again.

One may hate EA to the point they won't play their games, your choice and I won't argue how you got there.

But if you are ok enough with them and like their products and what they have on the Access list (not all are EA games anymore), what a bargain.

Its not that I hate EA, its just that almost all the games they publish suck. And the few that are interesting still dont get bought by me, because of Origin.

The last 2 EA games I tried were Star Wars Battlefront Beta and Andromeda. Both were such a huge disappointment, that I lost interest completely in EA games.

And of course, I would whip myself if I were to support subscription practice like that, because if it was successful, others would do the same. Ive learned that from my Steam mistake.
I have given up on waiting for BIS to come back to their senses and do a real ArmA 2 successor.

Looked but couldn't be bothered with digging into the catch.

Not worth $15 a month, you can still buy EA games at discount if you look around.
