Out of the Blue

Uncomfortably soon after mentioning my tolerance of spiders residing in the BlueTower we had the exterminator over for an insect murder spree. I mentioned that we recently discovered carpenter ants in our deck, which were actually accompanied by a few sightings of their airborne counterpart, carpenter bees. The company that placed our termite traps was dawdling about coming to address the ants and said they don't deal with bees at all, so an impatient MrsBlue called the competition. The other guys do handle bees, and were able to send someone over right away, so hopefully the wooden portions of our house are no longer being eaten. When he came in to report on his project he explained that he had sprayed the perimeter of the house for everything, spiders included. So apologies to any of my eight-legged friends caught in the crossfire here... hopefully any of you who wanted to be in the house were already safely inside.

Poisoned Links: Thanks Ant.

Not going to lie, that trailer looks a LOT like the Emoji Movie trailer.

Going with classic video games made sense. They've stood the test of time, and a Q-Bert movie doesn't feel any more dated today than it will in 30 years. But modern e-commerce companies? Feels like the beginning of Silicon Valley.

I can respect that. Worth noting, the trailer gives nothing away. It just gets you hyped for the film.

You sound pretty confident about that. Inside info?

Am I missing something? My statement is based on watching the trailer.

If you haven't seen the whole movie, how do you know the trailer gives nothing away?

What he’s saying is it doesn’t really show anything that resembles a plot point. It seems to focus on silly self-contained joke sequences. But I don’t blame you for trying to avoid spoilers to something you want to see. I was SO thrilled to find out that the Deadpool 2 trailer jokes weren’t in the movie, or were all changed in some fashion. Comedy relies heavily on surprise, so usually every joke from a trailer ends up making that scene less fun.

As to my own habits, I am one of those few "crazy" drivers who doesn't tailgate. Not that the truck was tailgating. But basically every time I'm on the local Interstate driving to the other side of town I see people driving 60+ mph within two car lengths of the car in front of them. Madness.

It's reasonable to assume the person approaching the intersection was going to stop. Human beings have innate self preservation and don't put themselves in the path of a moving semi. He hits the horn first to let her know "Hey!" but she's oblivious, so she proceeds into the highway anyway. But it was honestly unexpected. 999 times out of 1000, that car is going to stop.

My sentiment exactly. Looking at how her car was moving it was clearly will she/won't she actually pull into traffic. Certainly enough to warrant considerable caution. But from the looks of it it's like he was completely oblivious to her as he didn't slow down a tick.

As mentioned in the comments, the truck driver probably couldn't see the car as well as the camera's POV does:
The dash cam is mounted in the center of the window so it has a much better view than the driver. The driver is sitting farther back and on the left side, and probably couldn't see the car until it was too late because there is a structural pillar and a mirror blocking the drivers view on the front left side where the car came from.

So stoked for the next Ralph movie. It's the first Disney movie I've truly loved. It hit all the right notes for me, it was lovable and geeky and clever with heart.
